Correction In last week’s letter to the editor, “Priorities need to change at MCHD,” Stuart Dick wrote that “virtually every person I contacted shared MCHD was in dan- ger of collapsing.” Mr. Dick has asked that the statement be corrected to read “most people I contacted shared MCHD was in danger of collapsing.” DOGE or DOCT? I knew better than to turn on the news tonight. Now I’m ticked…and per- plexed. Not to be rude but, are people really that stu- pid? A bunch of people in NYC holding signs and hat- ing on Elon at a Tesla deal- ership…and I bet not one of them could clarify what they’re really protesting. I guess calling everyone Nazis is what you do when you don’t have a logical complaint. Maybe they should hold up “Stop saving us money!” and “Leave the criminals alone!” signs. Or even “We don’t like green anymore!” Might make more sense. Maybe instead of DOGE, they’d rather have DOCT…Department of Covering Tracks. After all, criminals need jobs too, right? I love what Elon is doing, and it’s been a long time coming. Our govern- ment has grown way be- yond what our forefathers intended. To quote John Adams, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” The lack of “moral and religious people” in our government has brought about a monster that’s gone unchecked. Take a look at where tax dollars have gone. It’s criminal. And the fact that people are against taking out the gar- bage brings my faith in humanity to a new low. But I shouldn’t be sur- prised. The Bible says that things are gonna get ugly. “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unfor- giving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lov- ers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” It’s almost like the Apostle Paul has been watching our nightly news. So, if we know all this is coming, why not just say, “Oh well,” and watch the show? Here’s what comes to mind…. What do we do with evil? Ignore it? Just stand by silently and let it be? Nope. We are to defend what’s right…fight for it, remembering that the battle is spiritual. Prayer is essential. The fate of America may be unknown, but your fate doesn’t have to be. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.” None of us are good enough to get into heaven. God’s not gonna let the other stuff go because you never murdered anyone or went to church 500 times. It’s not a point system. Sin requires payment because God is just. Jesus died as payment for our sin….for your sin. But you need to repent (turn from sin) and accept Him. (A gift isn’t yours until you actually accept it). Tell Jesus you’re sor- ry for rejecting Him. He will forgive you. If you give Him your life, He will change it like no other. And no matter what happens to our country or our planet, you will spend eternity in a place better than you can ever imagine. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” (John 3:16) Susie Crosby Prineville, OR Housing authority to meet The next meeting of the Heppner Housing Authority for the Heppner senior cen- ter will be Tuesday, April 8, at 4 p.m. in the St. Patrick’s Senior Center lobby.
