Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Jo- seph and Alice Salamone. She survived by her life companion, Patsy Walk- er, (Heppner) and her sis- ters, Kandice Salamone (Marblehead, Mass) and Kathleen Underwood (Al- buquerque, NM), who will forever cherish the mem- ory of her quiet grace and unwavering devotion. Walker Bruce was born August Allen Patsy is off on a new adventure. With cherished memories we announce the passing of Patricia Fern Walker of Heppner, who left this world on February 11, 2025, escaping the lim- itations of her body, having lived a life rich with gener- osity, curiosity, and fearless exploration. Born in Ontario, Can- ada on May 7, 1943, to Robert and Fern Walker, Pat had a spirit that refused to be confined. From an early age, she displayed an insatiable curiosity and boundless sense of wonder. Pat believed that life was to be measured not in years but in moments of awe, laughter and discovery. Pat worked most of her life as a co-writer or ghost writer for the Guttenberg Press. She authored many medical pamphlets for os- tomy patients and family. She loved to barter for fish and seafood at Nahcotta, Washington, when she and Karen lived there in the 80’s. They would trade their dipped chocolates for Karen’s favorite crab. A very memorable trip was to the Grand Canyon, taking in the impressive sights. They loved their place in Powell Butte and enjoyed many an adventure there. In East- ern Oregon Karen and Pat would follow dusty roads until they turned into wag- on ruts and actually found themselves following the Oregon Trail. They loved to find interesting rocks and had quite a collection displayed in their home on Bergstom Rd. They loved their “Green Gables” life on the farm, remodeling the house and enjoying the interesting wildlife. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, and her companion, Karen Sa- lomone. Her brothers Bruce and Bob Walker, and sisters Joan Francis and Betty Ann Johnson, also preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pioneer Memorial Hos- pice where she had many friends, who will fondly remember the last chapter of her adventurous life here in the Heppner Oregon area. William Bruce Walker It is with heavy hearts that we announce the pass- ing of William Bruce Walk- er, a good and simple man whose life was marked by quiet joys and a deep love of the nature around him. Bruce passed away on January 26, 2025, enjoying 22,1941 in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. Bruce found his happiness in life’s simplest pleasures, reading, caring for the yard and garden, and finding solace in the outdoors. The open air was his sanctuary, a reflection of his care and devotion to life’s quiet moments. And if he knew you well, he would expound all he learned in the latest book he was reading. A man of few words and deep integrity, Bruce believed in living humbly and working hard. Ala- meda County Parks and Recreation District was Bruce’s employment for most of his working years. He did not seek attention but left an impact on all who knew him through his steady presence, warm smile, and thoughtful ways. Bruce retired and lived with his sister Joan Francis (On- tario, Canada). After her death in 2001, he moved to Heppner to live with his sister Pat Walker. Bruce is survived by Pat Walker and Karen Sal- amone, Heppner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fern Walker, his brother, Bob Walker and sisters Joan Francis and Betty Ann Johnson. No service will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers remember Bruce’s spirit by donating to Kay Proctor’s Butterfly Garden in Heppner. “Rest now, Bruce, in the peaceful garden of eter- nity, where the grass is al- ways green and the flowers bloom forever.” Bob Allen, 88, of Hard- man passed away peace- fully on February 6, 2025. He was born in Muskegon, MI on December 9, 1936, to Lyle Allen and Ruth Nevins. He was a Marine veteran, had worked on Alaskan cannery fishing ships, was a well-known cook in Ione and Lexington and worked on the Morrow County Road Crew. On October 15, 1994, he married Sylvia Wilson Harper. They were married nearly 28 years upon her death in 2022. Her family became his family. He is survived by step daughters Carla Christensen (Pat- rick) and Linda Harper; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia; step sons Tony Harper and Ben Harper. Bob and Sylvia owned and operated S&B Con- cessions at the Morrow County OHV Park making all who recreated there feel welcome. They were also very involved in the Hard- man Community Center where Bob would host his annual oyster feed. Bob enjoyed his woodworking and would make wonderful toys, puzzles, rocking hors- es, and seasonal decorations for family and friends.
