My truth Dumbest idea ever? “My truth, your truth” or even “There is no truth”. Ok, so what if I smack you in the face and tell you my truth says it’s just a love tap? But your truth says it’s an assault (and it hurt like heck). Should we flip a coin? Since “my truth/your truth” isn’t working….let’s just say there is no truth and call it good. Oh wait. Morality requires truth… so that doesn’t work either. Why are some people so bent on screwing things up? Maybe it’s the search for significance. It’s not easy to find a purpose these days, especially if you leave God out of the equation. Pretty hard to feel special when you’re just the result of a big boom. How could things go so sour so quickly? As we watch decency make a fast exit, we’re leading a gen- eration to slaughter. This isn’t Mayberry anymore. We better figure it out. I have an idea. It hap- pened when normal people decided it was easier to agree with lies rather than fight for the truth. Whether we give a nod of approval or remain silent….the re- sults are the same. Yes…. there is TRUTH, and it coincides with reality. We fell for the idea that love means accepting any be- havior, and that we should bite our tongues rather than risk offending someone. Oh the irony….those telling us we need to be tolerant of EVERYTHING while they shout, stomp their feet and act like 2 year-olds when we say something they don’t like. Meanwhile, our gov- ernment is telling us they can fix the planet if we just obey. Well duh! Because they’ve done such a great job with everything else (insert eye-roll). How can we really “fix” the planet? I think asking the manufacturer might be a good place to start. He’s got resources we don’t have….like the ability to create stuff from scratch. How about fixing humanity? Well, if you let a certain political party have their way, they’ll “fix” us into oblivion. Aborting or sterilizing a generation isn’t a great way to continue our existence. Then there’s the perpetuation of nuclear war. That doesn’t help. Got to thinking about all those “immigrants” who are coming over here to escape their corrupt governments. A rude awakening awaits them. Because if the can- didate they’re supposed to cast their illegal votes for wins, this country will be a carbon copy of their own horrible country. Yous goes for the terrorists too….not gonna go well for you either way. Best stay home. Can Trump fix our country? Maybe….tempo- rarily. But these last days are upon us and we’re watching prophecy unfold. So why not just sit back and watch the show? Because we always need to stand for what’s right…and pray- ing….no matter what. Our eternity depends on it. Jesus says to search for Him, and we will find Him if we search diligently. But there’s an expiration date. If we reject him long enough, our hearts harden and will never admit the truth. And remember, we can eat healthy, run 10 miles a day, recycle, drive EVs, then get hit by a Mack truck ….and it’s all over. “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. WCCC wraps up season with Linder winning the EDT The final days for the Ladies golf session ended in a seasonal Eddie Skow tournament with our winner Kris Lindner! Congratu- lations to Kris! The ladies also did a competition for birdies and chip-ins, the winner was Virginia Grant; and there was a three way tie this season between Kris Lindner, Sharon Harrison, and Virginia Grant and the winner from the that was Kris Lindner for chip-ins! We celebrated the last of the season with a scramble on hole three, you could only use three clubs, your choice of which three to use (some YOUR AD COULD BE HERE! Spiritually Speaking Father Thankachan Joseph On Leading others astray! Last Sunday’s theme we reflected on was that of simplicity and humility. If anyone wants to be first and be the leader of any group, he/she needs to be the slave of everyone. Recently, I attended a one-day retreat or- ganized by the well-known scripture Scholar Dr. Mary Healy. The theme of the retreat was “Healing and En- countering Christ.” I thought the theme for this Sunday’s readings would take us through the same experience. The first step towards healing and encountering Christ is that one should be free from all the negative feelings of jealousy and envy. The first reading of the day reminds us about the famous words of Moses: “Are you jealous for my sake?” He is frustrated because his followers are clearly thinking about themselves and their positions. Last Sunday we reflected on Jesus telling His disciples that to be greatest would mean to be the servant of all, through reaching out to others in service. The Gospel of the day from Mark echoes this advice: “There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me.” The first reading, the Book of Numbers (11:25-19), shows the followers of Moses, the admirers of God, be- coming annoyed because others who were not chosen as Prophets begin to prophesy. Moses immediately realiz- es that prophesizing comes from God, but his followers are not so quick to catch on. We are to realize that the spirit of God is not the monopoly of a single person. The Lord bestows the spirit of God on seventy elders, and they begin to prophesy, especially the two who were in the camps Eldad and Medad, whose sincerity of prophe- cy was suspected by Joshua. The Letter of James, last chapter (5:1-6), teaches us that we are invited to follow God in all things and not strive to amass wealth or fame or other things in this life. Nothing will count in the end except faithfulness to the Lord God. We always want to look good in comparison with others. James warns us all about the social justice and uprightness that we all need to keep in our lives. James warns us, “Behold the wages you withheld from the workers who harvested your fields are crying aloud; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts,” which are very strong words of warn- ing for everyone. The Gospel of Mark today (9:38-43,45,47-48) gives us two clear teachings. The first one is the same as men- tioned in the Book of Numbers: Never try to stop the good works of God that happen around you because they don’t fit the way you think they should happen! The sec- ond teaching is clear: Whatever we do to help others is from God, and if someone causes evil or harm to others, that person will be punished severely on judgment day. Jesus teaches us that anyone who causes one of His “little ones” to sin or fall into temptations will reap his/ her punishment. He continues: “It would be better for them if a great millstone was put around their neck and s/he was thrown into the sea.” Jesus continues in this manner for several verses. Clearly, Jesus wants His dis- ciples and every one of us to realize what a serious of- fense it is if we cause one of His little ones to sin. Jesus also gives several graphic examples of the punishment that might be meted out, in the Book to the wrongdoers. Today may be a good day for us to ask ourselves: Do we cause any of the “little ones” to stray from Jesus? We may not be intentionally inviting another person to stray. However, we may subtly or unknowingly invite anoth- er to do so. We may be talking with someone, and we begin to gossip. Or perhaps we are complaining about work, our co-workers, or the behavior of our children, or perhaps we simply are in a bad mood. The reality is that our attitude and our words affect other people either positively or negatively. On this Sunday let each of us strive to be a positive and loving presence to each person we encounter. Let us pray that all might be prophets, that all might struggle against sin and against harming anyone. Let us give thanks for all who do good and pray that we also may do good.
