The Softball team is ranked seventh in the state with a 15 -7 record. They are 11-3 in league play. The Lady Mustangs defeated the top ranked Weston McEwen TigerScots 4-2 on May 1st.. The Mustang Base- ball team is currently 17-5 and ranked seventh. They are playing for the league title Tuesday May 14th against Grant Union. Their successful sea- sons can be directly at- tributed to the upgrade in facilities. The construc- tion of indoor practice fa- cilities for both teams has really helped in this pro- cess. “We can get so much more accomplished in the early season with the abil- ity to be inside when it is raining and snowing,” said Heppner AD Greg Grant. It is great when both pro- grams can have early sea- son training sessions in- doors. The youth programs have been accessing the fa- cilities to get more training as well. Heppner Softball coaches and players have hosted training sessions, clinics and optional hit- ting opportunities. High school volunteers and players have been holding two hour hitting sessions on Sundays this spring. -Photos by Susan Hisler Thompson. Least putts of the field was Jackie All- stott.
