In the 9-12 age group, Grace Schoenfelder , Boardman, emerged victorious, show- casing exceptional talent and expertise followed in second place by Paige Miller. Meanwhile, Kendal Cavaletto, Miltonfreewater, claimed the top spot in the 8-9 age group followed by Cora Schoenfelder, both impressing the judge with skill beyond their years. Additionally, Winnie Worden captivated hearts and minds in the 3-year-old group, sometimes with her twin sister, Quincy, in tow. 5HÀHFWLQJRQWKHHYHQW Morrow County Extension Agent Makenzi Evans ex- pressed her delight, stating, Cora Schoenfelder (Board- man) and Kendal Cavaletto (Milton Freewater), pay close attention to judge, Nick Nelson, during the inaugural Littlest Cowpokes calf show sponsored by Morrow Coun- ty Livestock Growers. -Photo contributed “What a great experience to be a part of and witness. It was a complete joy to host an event that fosters the growth and passion of our youngest cowpokes.” Looking ahead, the MCLG is already gear- ing up for the 2025 show, scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 9th, in Heppner. Anticipation is high for another memo- rable gathering of young talent and community spirit. The depredation oc- curred on private land in the Balm Creek area of the county. A new area of known wolf activity (AKWA) was documented by ODFW in 2022, when a radio-col- lared female wolf dispersed from the Columbia Pack in Washington and entered Oregon. Since June 2022, her movements indicate she has become a resident in southwestern Morrow County, traveling with an- other wolf. Two wolves were documented in the WA-123 group during the count this winter. Wolves in Morrow County are currently listed as endangered under the Federal Endangered Spe- cies Act. All management related to the harassment and taking of wolves west of Highway 395 is regu- lated by the U.S. Fish And Wildlife Service.
