PRIORITIES Before October 7th, I was worried about fro- zen pipes, getting hay, and making ends meet. Real LVVXHV«\HV%XWWKHVWX൵ that takes over our brain seems so trivial sometimes, especially when you awake WRWKHQHZVRIWKHKRUUL¿F atrocities committed by Hamas against the peo- ple of Israel. The images I’ve seen will never go away. It’s hard to imagine human beings doing such evil things to their fellow man. Looks like Iran has been training their proxies well……along with the help of a large financial gift from our president. Are we surprised? Do we think Satan plays by the rules? And is it just me or hasn’t Iran made it clear that they want to annihilate Israel? And haven’t they been talking nukes for a while now? I think that makes them just a bit suspect. But they promised to spend their gift on “humanitarian H൵RUWV´,¶PVXUHWKH\¶UHD credible entity. Now we have Hamas holding Americans hostage while Iran makes threats against us. Meanwhile…we tell Israel to “stand down” (giving their enemies a chance to regroup). An- tisemitism is being propa- gated throughout the world. Such are the consequences of a weak administration. I have a feeling that those who thought we had the “worst president ever” in Trump might see things dif- ferently now. Get past the bad hair and mean tweets. Admit it. Trump was a deterrent. You do well if the enemy is afraid of you. Even better if he thinks you’re a little crazy. I remember my mom- in-law talking about the “end times”. Sounded a little scary and a long way from my life back in the early seventies. Wars and rumors of wars, cashless society, mark of the beast, one-world government, the hatred of Christians and Jews and the general de- cline of morality. It wasn’t clear where America was in all this back then, but it doesn’t take a rocket scien- tist to see where it is now. Israel needs our prayers. America needs our prayers. Our enemies need our prayers. So, what worries me the most? Sky- rocketing gas prices? Food shortages? Nukes? Nope. Here’s what keeps me awake at night. I have fami- ly and friends I love deeply. And truth is, whether it’s Hamas, Putin, or the guy driving too fast on an icy road… life will eventually end for every one of them. I want to know they’ll be in heaven. The alternative is unthinkable. We may have no con- trol over what the world does. But we do have con- trol over what happens after we die. Jesus gives us a choice. We can accept Him or reject Him. He made the consequences of our choice very clear….Heaven or hell. Read the Bible, take it seriously. Find out what Jesus meant when he said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me” John 14:6. Then make a decision. I pray it’s the right one. This is what the LORD says: “At just the right time, I will respond to you. On the day of salvation, I will help you. I will protect you and give you to the people as my covenant with them. Through you I will reestab- lish the land of Israel and assign it to its own people again”. Nevertheless, - Photo By Kim Gutierrez November 9th, Representa- tive Mark Owens (R-Crane) and Representative Greg Smith (R-Heppner) toured Sam Barlow High School with Gresham-Barlow School District Superin- tendent James Hiu. Both Representative Owens and Smith live and represent legislative districts in East- ern Oregon, however, they are graduates of Sam Bar- low High School; Repre- sentative Smith graduated the Class of 1987 and Rep- resentative Owens graduat- ed the Class of 1989. Strolling down the corridors of Sam Barlow High School evoked mem- ories of their youth and ties to the community for the representatives. Gresham has undergone rapid expan- sion since Representative Smith and Representative Owens relocated to East- they were both struck by the realization that, despite numerous changes in the community, the traditions and unity within it remain steadfast. “I want to thank Su- perintendent Hiu for the tour today,” Representative Owens said. “Sam Barlow High School has changed a lot since I last walked the halls. I was impressed with the remarkable Career and Technical Education programs offered to the students and how well the funds were being used.” “There is often a discon- nect between the East and West sides of the state,” said Representative Smith. “It was so nice to return to my roots and see that no matter where you are in Oregon, communities come together to support the education of our youth.” DEADLINE: MONDAYS AT 5PM ! d l So $140,000 This house is ready to go.
