EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, May 17, 2023 Lady Mustangs hoof Irrigon, Riverside it to first in Grant compete in Baker Union meet Invitational Heppner women again topped the field as a team at the Grant Union Invita- tional last Friday, placing first out of the eight teams that participated at Three Flags Field in John Day. Heppner men placed third as a team, while several individuals also had strong performances in the Hep- pner team’s last meet before the district championships this Saturday. Hallee Hisler proved herself a triple threat, tak- ing first in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter. Lily Nichols placed first in the 800- and 1500-meter races, while Riley Archer took the top spot in the 3000-meter. Trevor Nichols placed first in the men’s 1500-me- ter, and Gage Hart took first in the 3000-meter. The 2A Special Dis- trict 4 Championships are this Saturday, May 20, at Kennison Field in Herm- iston. About $250. Training takes a few days, but lasts a lifetime! • Lifeguard certification is good for 2 years. If you return for a third year the training is free and much shorter in time. • Beginning wage this year: $14.00 per hour. The wage will increase each summer you return to WCWP! Low gross of the field went to Virginia Grant. Sharon Harrison had low net of the field. For Flight A, Karen Thompson had low gross and Virginia Grant had the long putt. On Flight B, Karen Wolff had low gross, Pat Edmundson low net and Sharon Harrison the long putt. For Flight C, Lorrene Montgomery had the low gross and long putt, and Jackie Allstott had low net. Karen Thompson had a chip-in on #18. The ladies will host a guest luncheon for local women on May 30. Tee time will be 10 a.m. Lunch will follow play. Ladies of all skill levels are welcome. HUNTER EDUCATION CLASSES OFFERED A Hunter Education class is coming up in June at the Lexington Gun Club. Classes will be held June 14, 16, 21 and 23 from 6-9 p.m. and June 18 from 8 a.m. to noon.
