Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, May 10, 2023 -- NINE Local students speed Ione team hits hard Mustang baseball at sub-regional tennis celebrates seniors to top spots in Big tournament Cats Invitational Morrow County high school track and field ath- letes traveled to Stanfield las Friday, may 5, to com- pete in the Big Cats In- vitational. The Heppner women’s team showed well at the event, placing third out of 17 women’s teams. Several Morrow Coun- ty students also made names for themselves by claiming individual places in the top three on the podium. Ione’s Bryce Rollins placed sec- ond in discus. For Heppner, Hayden McMahon placed second in the 400-meter and Trev- or Nichols placed first in 3000-meter. Hallee Hisler placed first in the 200-meter and second in the 100-meter, Lily Nichols placed first in the 1500- and 3000-meter, Irelynn Kollman was third in the 1500-meter, Arianna Worden placed third in the 3000-meter, and taking third in the 4x400 relay was the Heppner team of Arianna Worden, Irelynn Kollman, Lily Nichols and Hallee Hisler. The Irrigon team of Jaton Black, Jozen Byers, Koebie Campos and An- tonio Lemus placed third in the 4x100 relay, while Jozen Byers placed first in pole vault. Vicky de la Torre placed first in girls singles, while Kel- ly Doherty and Jolene Serrano placed second in doubles. Kalvin Rietmann placed fourth in boys singles. The girls team earned second-place honors as a team. Members of the Cardinal girls team are Brionna Serrano, The Heppner middle school track team had a successful run this season, ending with several top spots in the UMMSAA meet at Riverside May 4. The five young men participated in five tournaments this spring. Children’s golf equip- ment will be available for use after June 1. Kid tees will be set up on Thursdays, and an attendant will be available from noon to 7 p.m. at the clubhouse. An instructional clinic and kids’ tournament will be held on July 6, 7 and 8. Children under the age of 12 must have an adult accom- pany them. The course is reserved on Wednesday evenings and Tuesday and Sunday mornings for men’s and women’s club play, as well as for scheduled events.
