Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, May 3, 2023 -- ELEVEN Heppner sweeps Condon Invitational Heppner teams swept the field at the Condon Invitational last Friday, April 28. Both the men and women’s varsity teams placed first overall, and sev- eral individuals also made their way to the top of the podium. Trevor Nichols of Hep- pner continued a strong sea- son by taking first in both the 400- and 3000-meter races, setting a person- al record of 53.91 in the 400-meter. Heppner senior Jacob Finch clinched the top spot in the 800-meter. Heppner women ran away with the event, with Hallee Hisler placing first in the 100- and 200-meter, Lily Nichols taking first in the 400- and 1500-meter races and the 300m hurdles, Irelynn Kollman clinching first in the 800-meter and Riley Archer taking the top spot in the 3000-meter. The Heppner 4x400 re- lay varsity team of Arianna Worden, Irelynn Kollman, Lily Nichols and Hallee Hisler also placed first in their event. While Ione didn’t score as high as a team, several Cardinal athletes also made impressive showings in Condon. Victoria De La Torre recently joined the Ione track and field team and made her mark with a strong second and personal record in the 100-meter. Low gross of the field went to Virginia Grant. Low net of the field went to Tiffany Clement, and Eva Kilkenny had least putts. For Flight A, Karen Thompson had low gross and Virginia Grant K.P. For Flight B, Shirley Martin had low gross, Sha- ron Harrison low net, and Pat Edmundson least putts and K.P. For Flight C, Karen Smith-Griffith had low gross, Lorrene Montgom- ery low net, and Jackie Allstott least putts and K.P. Cardinals fly away with top spots in South Wasco meet Ione Athletes traveled to the South Wasco Invi- tational last week. Henry Giefing showed his sprint- ing talent by taking first in both the 100- and 200-me- ter races, as well as setting a personal record of 19-10.50 in the long jump. Bryce Rollins excelled in the field events, taking first in both shot put and discus, setting a PR of 43-01.75 in the shot put.
