Morrow County athletes
leave competition in the
dust at Cove meet
All four Morrow Coun-
ty high schools participated
in the Cove Charter School
1A-2A-3A Regional Invi-
tational last Saturday, April
22. The Heppner women’s
team placed second in a
field of 18, behind only
Crane, while Riverside was
10 th and Irrigon was 18 th .
On the men’s side,
Heppner was again at the
forefront, placing fourth
out of the 22 teams, with
Ione 10 th , Irrigon 11 th and
Riverside 14 th .
Individually, Heppner’s
Trevor Nichols again shot
to the top of the podium,
placing first in both the
1500 meter and 3000 me-
ter and setting season or
personal records in those
events. Hayden McMahon
of Heppner placed first in
the 100 meter with a per-
sonal record of 11.85, with
another PR and third place
in the 200 meter.
Tyrese Boyd of River-
side took the top spot in jav-
elin, Jozen Byers of Irrigon
set a first-place PR in the
pole vault, and Jaton Black
of Irrigon set a personal re-
cord with his second-place
finish in the 300m hurdles.
Rounding out the Mor-
row County top-three plac-
ers was Bryce Rollins, who
placed second in both shot
put and discus.
For the women, it was
Lily Nichols of Heppner
who ran away with a solid
first and personal records in
both the 800- and 1500-me-
ter races. Other Heppner
women weren’t far behind,
though—Irelynn Kollman
placed second in the 800
with a PR, Arianna Worden
took second place with a
PR in the 1500 and Riley
Archer placed second with
a PR in the 3000 meter.
Hallee Hisler placed
third in the 200-meter race,
Riley Archer was third in
the 1500 meter, and Irelynn
Kollman placed third with a
personal record in the 3000
meter.

MS will take place this
Saturday, April 29, begin-
ning at 10:30 a.m. Weather
permitting, the walk will go
from Hager Park to Hep-
pner City Park.
There is no registration
fee, but donations are en-
couraged. Proceeds will go
to fund multiple sclerosis
research.
The event will con-
clude with a no-host meal
at Bucknum’s Tavern in
Heppner.
