SIX - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, September 28, 2022 Heppner Mustangs VB defeated by Stanfield Tigers Makiyah Christian sets the ball to Kadie Henrichs during the JV game Thursday. Teammates Keeley Nairns, Hai- ley Cimmiyotti, Loren Trujillo, and Denisse Bracamontes look on. The Mustangs JV and Varsity volleyball teams traveled to take on the Stanfield Tigers on their home turf last week and suffered defeat at the hands of the Tigers. JV played long and hard, playing five arduous high-intensity games. The scores stayed relatively even through- out the night with the JV girls battling to stay neck and neck most of the night. However, after such a tough battle, JV was not victorious. The varsity had a tough night as well. Watching the playback on the NFHS Network, it was clear that the Tigers had quite a few strong hitters that helped secure their win against the Mustangs. “We played well offensively but struggled to dig the ball defensive- ly,” said Coach Mindy Wil- son. “This means we know what we will be working on in practice this week. Their hitters were able to get above us, and we weren’t able to get a hand on the ball. I am looking to see a different ball game the next time we meet.” Heppner JV vs. Stanfield Lost, 2-3 Final Scores: 19-25, 25- 14, 19-25, 27-25, 14-16 No Stats.
