Stuart strikes To the editor; I have been review- ing past news articles and letters to the editor about the petitions to recall Com- missioners Melissa Lindsay and Jim Doherty. It seems there is a great deal of misunderstanding because of the confidential legal process that was required to be followed. On the surface, there seemed to be little information to make judgements. Then Stuart Dick en- tered the fray with his let- ters to the editor. Unless information is found to counter the details he pre- sented, hasn’t he slammed the last nail in the petition coffin? I’ve never met the man. More often than not, his letters to the Heppner Ga- zette-Times hold religious and political views that are not my own, but I do not question his energy and savvy in reviewing a topic of his interest. When we do seem to agree on an issue, I’ve got to say, go get ‘em Stuart. Who wants to debate with Stuart? Please put your head on the chopping block. Stuart, here is your ax. Bill Ewing, Heppner More information To the editor; I will admit that I’m a grumpy old man, just had a surgery canceled in Portland due to a defective robot. I just wanted to get home. Clearly, I should have read the article more thoroughly about the rock seal construction. So, with the wife driving, we came to this mechanical stop sign, so we stopped, turned off the car, nothing more to see, but we always obey a traffic signal. A sign that says, “Wait for the pilot car” or “delay might be 10 – 15 minutes,” would have been nice, but no, just this red stoplight, with a person sitting down the road maybe 30 yards, in an air conditioned pickup truck, probably with a radio so he knows what’s going on, watching I’m sure for bozos like me, who ignore the stop light or, gasp, get out of their car, especially when the pilot car is com- ing. After sitting 10 – 15 minutes with nothing hap- pening, at least that we could see, I got out of our car and went towards the person in the truck to ask for more information, like how long would the wait be. As I approached the pickup truck, the person comes barreling out and bawls me out for being out of my car, “Get back in your car (bozo), the pilot car is almost here.” He couldn’t talk, just wanted me back in my car. At least I figured out that there was a pilot car. But the person’s attitude did not fit what I expected from someone who deals with the public, someone from Morrow County, someone who must work for the county road department, paid by folks like me who pay our real estate taxes. I felt like I’d just been sent to the principal’s office back in high school. So yes, just a sign with a little more information would be very helpful. Box 337 Heppner, OR 97836 david@sykesrealestate.net Owner/Broker David Sykes 541-980-6674 Men and women in uniform bear the consequences To the editor; This letter is dedicated to our service men and women, especially those disabled, battling PTSD and our remaining Vietnam vets, many still suffering from Agent Orange poi- soning. From Vietnam to Afghanistan, America has disingenuously engaged in wars started by politicians with our soldiers and their families bearing the never healing results. Presently we have a career corrupt elderly politician poking a lethal, treacherous, ma- lignant, poisonous dragon (China). This will not end well because China has prepared while America has compromised, squan- dering our blessings. Every American will bear the consequences of the reck- less policies of the current administration one way or another, especially our men and women in uniform. For most of the 19 th and 20 th centuries, Great Britain, and after WWII, America controlled the sea gates of the world. Nine- ty percent of the world’s trade travel by sea through policed sea gates. God had blessed America and Great Britain by controlling the sea gates of the world. “I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed…and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.” (Gen. 22:17) No nation in history has equaled the blessing upon the English speaking coun- ties of the Great Britain Commonwealth and Amer- ica as promised by God for a nation that will serve and honor Him. “I will mul- tiply thy seed as the stars of heaven.” (Gen.22:17) There was a condition for this national blessing. “But it shall come to pass if thou wilt not harken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his com- mandments and statues… all these curses shall come upon thee:” (Deut. 28:15) What is happening to Amer- ica today is a result of God’s curse for our disobedience to His commandments and statutes. Our political lead- ers, our press and media, Hollywood, Disney, most schools and higher educa- tion, etc., mock God and his commandments and statutes. God warns He will bring a nation of fierce countenance “which shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young.” (Deut. 28:50) “And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates.” (Deut. 28:52) China controls the South China Sea where one third of the maritime trade (5.3 trillion) of the world must pass through. While America, under Pe- losi and Biden/Obama, pursue progressive global anti-American politics, like the January 6 fiasco, China has prepared relentlessly for war. “Over the past 20 years we’ve witnessed the largest military buildup since WW2 by the PRC (China).” (Associated Press March 20. 22). China has militarized the S. China Sea. They have built three military staging artificial islands in the territorial dis- puted South China Sea with airfields, missile systems, and soon to be the largest navy in the world. All the sea gates of the world once controlled by America or G. B., are now controlled by the ene- mies of America, Israel and English Commonwealth. Strait of Hormuz (Iran), Port of Gwadar (China), Panama Canal (both gates controlled by China), Port of Hambanthota (China), Strait of Malacca (Ma- laysia), Bab el Mandab (China), Suez Canal (Egypt controlled under Russia/ China sphere), Strait of Bosporus (Turkey /Rus- sis), Gilbralter (soon to be controlled by EU), Hong Kong (China), Black Sea ports (Russia). 90 percent of world’s products travel through these sea gates. Pelosi’s saber rattling and Biden’s ineptitude does not bode well for all Ameri- cans. No longer can Amer- ica proclaim, ‘In God We Trust.’ What must Ameri- cans do in the face of this reckless provocation by politicians empowered by a broken and tainted elec- tion system? Number one: America must return to the God of our forefathers and that may well be harkened by the loss or constraint of our liberty and freedom. Number two we all must do what our compromised leaders are failing to do: Prepare to endure. When the sea gates of the world are shut down in any degree there will be an economic siege, especially in Amer- ica. I exhort my brethren to stock up on essential commodities as best you can. Number three, and most important, establish a personal relationship with the creator of the sea gates and the world, the Lord Jesus Christ. That relation- ship will carry all that yield their heart to Him through whatever trial awaits us. This tribulation is upon us, and we must prepare to endure to its conclu- sion: the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, just as He promised. (“Be watchful and vigilant,” Thankachan Joseph, G.T. 8/3/22) “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and heal their land.” (II Chr. 7:14) Stuart Dick, Irrigon
