Good News Only By Doris Brosnan Kay Proctor’s research shows that John Wight at Pettyjohn’s Building Sup- ply and Riley Wight at Blue Mountain Plumbing also donated supplies for the new dugout at George Waterland Field. “The sto- ry just gets better and bet- ter,” Kay believes. We all are invited to the Lott’s Fitness Center’s Open House on Tuesday, May 17, 4 – 7 p.m. We can learn more about how to become a member and about what equipment and programs will be offered. I was pleased to be able to spend almost ten days in Salem last week with the Salem family. We attended OSU junior Car- son’s ROTC spring awards ceremony and West Salem sophomore Amy’s drame- dy based on Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors. I vis- ited Danny, shopped briefly with a friend, and played bridge once with three friends. Mothers’ Day lunch before heading home was a nice way to end the stay, with my fam- ily and seven other friends. Last weekend, Mor- row County Parks opened “with a mix of snow, rain, cold temperatures, and lots of mud,” reports Kay Proctor. That had to be great for the 300 enthusi- astic campers at the OHV Park, where the Northwest Trail Riders Club, based in Pendleton, held their an- nual Mother’s Day “Ride the Blues” trail ride. The Landing restaurant at the OHV Park had a busy re- opening for the season. Kudos to Lori Mc- Cabe, head cook and assis- tant custodian at HJHS, for having received a Crystal Apple award. “The Crys- tal Apples are awarded in March to public school educators who have made a positive impact on the lives of their students,” states the official press re- lease. Being recognized for her work ethic, her mentoring of students, and her doing “everything with a touch of excellence” has to feel great. This super- woman has worked for the MoCo School District for 24 years. A special celebration last weekend took Billy Gentry to Seaside. And he wasn’t alone. Daughter Judy Gentry Towner cele- brated her birthday, so her siblings were also there to help with the celebration; Janet (and Greg), Jerry (and Terri), and Jackie (and Darwin). Adding to the enjoyment of all being together and the delicious birthday lunch were Judy’s husband, Earl, son, Matt, daughter, Tami, and grand- son Jake. Sharon Keithley Har- rison and Trish Keithley Sweeney’s sister Janet re- cently returned home to Vernal, Utah, after a couple weeks’ visits with families and friends in south Mor- row County. Janet stayed with her daughter, Tina Palmer, in Lexington, and Tina travelled with Janet to Utah, for a couple more weeks of visiting. Wow. Jacob “Jake” Ball, son of Duane and Stephanie of Cashmere, WA, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wash- ington State University last weekend. Kudos, Jake. Proud grandparents are Archie and Diana Ball, Heppner; Les and Kathy Payne, Umatilla; and Phyl- lis Armitage and Owen, Wenatchee, WA. Stop. Think. Smile. Share.
