LEXINGTON WATER STUDY -Continued from PAGE ONE In other business at its meeting, the council heard a report from Fire Chief Charlie Sumner who said the department has been working on its participa- tion in the upcoming town May Day Celebration. The department will be putting on a breakfast and have equipment in the parade. It was reported that the new door decals with the town jackrabbit logo have been ordered and should be ap- plied prior to May Day on the newly acquired F550 rig. Department members have also started work- ing on a few hall remodel proposals to allow them to park more vehicles in the Obituaries Donna Joan Bergstrom Donna Joan Bergstrom, 93, died Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Willow Creek Terrace Assisted Living in Heppner. A graveside ser- vice will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Rose City Ceme- tery, 5625 NE Fremont St., in Portland, Oregon 97213. Donna was born on July 8, 1928, in Portland, OR, the only child of Lee and Fern Trumbull Mar- cum. She attended schools in Portland and graduat- ed from Jefferson High School. Donna attended college at Pacific Univer- sity in Forest Grove, OR. After graduation from col- lege, she taught school for one year at Helix, OR. On August 25, 1951, she married Roland Berg- strom in Portland. They made their home in Ione, OR for few years before moving to the Bergstrom family farm at Gooseberry. She and Roland farmed until the farm was rented to Doug and Carley Drake in early1980’s. Donna substituted for years in the Heppner, Ione and Condon school dis- tricts. She taught sewing classes and 4-H sewing. As a member of Valby Luther- an Church she taught adult Sunday school classes. She enjoyed singing the area choirs. After their retirement, Donna and Roland did ex- tensive traveling to coun- tries in Europe, Sweden, Japan, China and Australia. The enjoyed spending time in Hawaii while visiting their daughter, Kay. Out of all their travels, Australia was her favorite. After Roland’s death in 2007 Donna remained on the family farm until 2014. She then moved into the Willow Creek Terrace Assisted Living in Heppner. Donna was a member of Hopeful Saints Church in Heppner. She was preceded in death by her husband Ro- land and son-in-law Dennis Bush. Survivors include her daughters Carley Drake (Doug) of Heppner, Shau- na Stroble (Ron) of Lake Oswego, Kay Bergstrom of Hawaii and Lori Bush of Salem, six grandchildren and four great grandchil- dren.
