Participants from the Heppner area performed piano duets at the Umatil- la/Morrow District of the Oregon Music Teachers Association annual Ensem- ble Festival in Hermiston on Saturday, November 13. There were over 90 participants. Participating from the Heppner area were Henry, Lincoln and Becca Ells- worth as well as Rylee and Madison Palmer. Lincoln and Becca Ellsworth were winners in the 12-14 age group. Madison Palmer re- ceived her 50-point partic- ipation trophy. For every OMTA event attended a point is awarded and a trophy awarded every 10 points. Madison is only the second student in the Umatilla/Morrow District to receive the 50 point tro- phy. The other student was her sister, Hannah. JVB Dairy of Ione and NW Farm Supply of Herm- iston both received the Friends of Morrow County 4-H award at the annual 4-H Achievement Night awards recognition. This is an honor voted upon by the 4-H leaders and volunteers in the county annually. JVB Dairy is owned and operated by John and Jana VandenBrink of Ione. For the past several years, JVB Dairy has made a point of supporting the youth at the annual livestock auc- tion.
