FOUR - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, August 4, 2021 Highview cemetery to expand Board members Ed Baker, Myrna Sieler, Frank Osmin and Marilyn Childers sign the agree- ment to purchase 25 acres for the Ione cemetery. The Highview ceme- tery in Ione recently pur- chased 25 acres to add to the cemetery. According to a source, the Ione-Lex- ington Cemetery District has been attempting to buy the property from the Odd Fellows for many years and was recently able to come to an agreement for the purchase. The land was deeded to the Ione Lodge No. 135, Independent Order of Odd Fellows as “An act to autho- rize the sale of public land for cemetery purposes” by President Warren G. Hard- ing on the “Eighteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one” stated the document from nearly 100 years ago. (See below) According to an Ione-Lexington Cemetery District board member, the addition of the land will ensure the Ione cemetery will have plenty of space for many more years. Morrow County 4-H hosts horse show Last week, the few and proud horse members of Morrow County took to the arena at the fair- grounds to show off their hard work and skills at the annual horse show. “This is a lovely group of mem- bers, families and leaders to work with,” said extension agent, Erin Heideman. “It is a tremendous amount of work to prepare horses and exhibitors for this show and these young ladies per- formed with a great amount poise. They were a delight to watch.” Showmanship winners were Champion, KC An- derson (Junior, Heppner), Reserve Champion, Pres- lie Bowles (Intermediate, Irrigon), Blue, Dallie Wil- son (Junior, Heppner), Sa- vannah Greenup (Novice, Heppner) Western Equitation winners were Champion, Preslie Bowles (Interme- diate, Irrigon), Reserve Champion, Dallie Wilcox (Junior, Heppner), Blue, KC Anderson (Junior, Hep- pner), Savannah Greenup (Novice, Heppner). All-Around showman from each species; horse, steer, hog, lamb, market goat, dairy goat and dairy cow, will have the opportunity show all species to select the master showman- ship for 2021.
