Eighteen kids partici- pated in the Ione 4 th of July parade as part of the Kids on Wheels event spon- sored and organized by Ione Community Church. The kids met at the church at 12:30 to decorate their bikes and get ready in the cool. The “wheels” joined the parade from there. Categories were pre- school, K-2, 3-4 and 5-6. Prizes were awarded in each category for Best Wheels, Best Decorations, Best Costume and Most Pa- triotic. Every child received a participant ribbon and a bag of surprises, plus ice cream and water at the end of the parade. Participants were Tes- sa Sallee (Most Patriotic), Kenna Sallee (Best Cos- tume), Anson McCabe, AJ McCabe, Adley McElligott, Harlow McElligott, Cooper Stefani (Most Patriotic), Madelyn Campbell (Best Wheels), Sofia Christman (Best Decorations), Joelle Christman (Most Patriotic), Stacy Thomson (Best Cos- tume), Tyler Elliott (Best Costume), Mattis McCabe, Morgan McCabe, Ayla Jew- ell (Best Wheels), Waylon Jewell (Best Decorations), Kylie Iveson (Best Deco- rations) and Kaeden Iveson (Best Wheels). The Ione 4 th of July golf tournament held July 3 at the Willow Creek Coun- try Club hosted 14 teams. Proceeds from the event, that will go to the Jason Halvorsen and Mike Mat- thews scholarships, brought in more than $4,000. The winning team of Darrin Padberg, Richard Ladd, Merrill Thatcher, Joel Peterson and Gregg White shot a score of 50. The second-place team, Shawn LaRue, Josh LaRue, Katie McKenzie and An- thony McKenzie scored a 51. Clint Camarillo was the long putt winner on both 1/10 and 5/14.
