Cemetery staff to remove flowers Heppner Cemetery staff will begin removing plants, flowers and deco- rations placed for Memo- rial Day on Thursday, June 10, to allow for mowing. Rules passed by the board of directors outline accept- able decoration placement and are posted in the infor- mation kiosk located at the cemetery. As a reminder, glass, ceramic and breakable containers are not allowed and will be promptly re- moved. The board also asks that vehicles stay on the asphalt as sprinklers are damaged when they are driven on. “The board and staff of the Heppner Ceme- tery work hard to keep the cemetery well maintained and ask that visitors be re- spectful of the buried and inurned and maintenance staff.” “Comments and sug- gestions are always wel- come,” said the cemetery staff news release. BEO announces promotions The Bank of Eastern Oregon has announced the recent promotions of employees at various branches around the state. Those promoted include Raymond Seastone, Cindy Bailey, Jeanniene Miller and Laura Georges. Bank of Eastern Oregon mortgage construction loan officer, Raymond Seastone, was recently promoted to assistant vice president, according to Jeff Bailey, president and CEO of Bank of Eastern Oregon. Seastone has been serving bank mortgage customers across the re- gion since July 2017. “Raymond is fabu- lous at helping customers navigate the intricacies of financing a home con- struction project. I am very pleased with his progress and the growth in that seg- ment of our business We are pleased to announce his promotion,” said Bai- ley. Raymond and his family reside in Irrigon. Bank of Eastern Ore- gon internal audit manag- er and CRA officer, Cindy Bailey, was recently pro- moted to vice president, according to Bailey. Bank of Eastern Or- egon ag and commercial loan officer, Laura Georg- es, was recently promoted to vice president, accord- ing to Bailey. Georges has been serving bank mort- gage customers in Harney County for the past eight years. “Laura has done a great job for us in Harney Coun- ty. Her growth as a bank- er and loan officer has been rewarding to watch. Harney County has been a good market for Bank of Eastern Oregon and Laura is a big part of our success. Catholic churches plan VBS The Catholic Church- es of St. Patrick and St. William are together plan- ning a Summer Vacation Bible School/camp, to help young people become STARS of the World, “… children of God without fault … Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life” (Phil 2:15). Considering other scheduled activities, the camp will be from June 14 to 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. for grades one- six. “The Catholic Church is invit- ing parents to send their kids to our June 14-17 Summer Vacation Bible School from 1 to 4 p.m. for a wonderful and fun experience of learning, to help them become ‘shin- ing Stars’ who can face the situations of life with courage and gusto,” said Father Thankachan. As usual, the camp will wind up on Thursday evening with the swim- ming that all the kids will be eager for. On all days of the camp, we will have snacks for the children. In the evening hours’ separate classes, the teenagers will have special attention for related teenage issues and how to tackle them pru- dently. There will also be two days of spiritual learning for the high school teen- agers, grades 7-12, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, June 14 and 15 with “sumptuous dinner”, and a program conduct- ed by a guest leader who is pursuing his PhD stud- ies in clinical psychology. Youth of other faiths are also invited to attend.
