John is a third-generation resident of Morrow County, educated at the U of O, raised his children through Morrow County schools, and holds genuine interest in the continued economic and social success of the Port of Morrow and Morrow County. John has served on several school and county boards and commissions, including terms on the Morrow County Planning Commission. I believe John recognizes and understands the importance of a solid working relationship between the Port and the cities and county g o v e r n m e n t s . J o h n ’s e x p e r i e n c e , i n t e g r i t y, and energy will benefit all residents of Morrow County. Please join with me in supporting and electing John Kilkenny for Port of Morrow Commissioner. Thomas Wolff, CPA Heppner Vote Kalie Davis for MC school board To the Editor Kalie Davis is running for the Morrow County School Board. I am recom- mending that you vote for her. Kalie is the Director of Workforce Development for the Port of Morrow. This position is responsible for the internship programs for the high schools. Ka- lie Davis is energetic and efficient. She has years of experience working with the schools across the dis- trict. Kalie would be an excellent board member. Please vote for Kalie Davis MCSD Board. Kim Cutsforth Heppner To the editor, The Port of Morrow is the second largest port in the State of Oregon and is the site for diversified industries that provide em- ployment for some 8,400 employees. Rick Stokoe, president of the board of commission- ers of the Port of Morrow, is running for reelection. He deserves your vote. His name will appear on your primary election bal- lot which you may have already received by the time you read this letter. Rick Stokoe is one of three candidates for Port of Morrow Commissioner. There are many more candi- dates for many more special districts, several of which are running unopposed. You may be tempted to trash your ballot and not vote in this election. Please don’t do that. If the Port of Morrow Com- missioner race is the only position for which you vote, please vote to reelect Rick Stokoe. Since the port em- braces all of Morrow Coun- ty it is important to maintain geographic diversity on the commission. Rick is employed full time as the chief of police in the City of Boardman where he supervises 10 em- ployees keeping the peace in the city and assisting the county sheriff in Irrigon and elsewhere when requested. Rick has been the chief in Boardman for 11 years and was chief of police in Nyssa two years before coming to Boardman, during his 31-year career in law en- forcement. Rick has served as a director of the Oregon As- sociation of Police for 10 years and was appointed by the Governor to the Or- egon Medical Examiners Board three years ago. He was appointed to the Port of Morrow Commission six years ago and has been elected to a four-year term since then and was elected president by his peers. As a commissioner he has served two years on the Colum- bia River Enterprise Zone (CREZ) Board. Rick has been happily married to Sheri for 28 years and their two grown children also live in Board- man. Your vote to reelect Rick Stokoe to the Port of Morrow Commission is important. Ed and Frances Glenn Boardman Support Jacob Cain for school board To the Editor: I am writing this letter in support of Jacob Cain for Mor- row County School Board. Our schools are an important part of our communities. It is beneficial that our board members understand our com- munities. I have worked with Jacob on several different projects. He has spent a sub- stantial amount of time in our area. He is a conscientious individual and will be fair to all our schools and students. Please vote for Jacob Cain for the Morrow County School District Board.
