Alpha wolves found Father Condon
honored
dead
The alpha male and
female from the Heppner
wolf pack were both found
dead in the last month.
There were no outward
indications for a cause of
death and both wolves were
shipped to OSU.
According to Steve
Cherry, District Wildlife
Biologist for the Oregon
Department of Fish and
Wildlife (ODFW), Hep-
pner District, “There are no
signs of trauma or gunshot
wounds found on either
wolf. Both wolves are at
OSU and waiting for results
to come back on the disease
and toxicology tests.”
The major landown-
ers in the area have been
notified and ODFW will
continue to monitor other
