EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Deputy Forest Supervisor selected Sheriff Lieutenant Harper retires Morrow County Sheriff Lieutenant Terry Harper was honored last week on his retirement after 31 years of service to the county. Harper started with the county in 1989 and was pro- moted to detective in 1999. He was promoted again to detective sergeant in 2005 and to operations lieutenant in 2017. At last week’s county commission meeting Harp- er was presented a plaque by Sheriff Ken Matlack. “We would like to congrat- ulate Terry upon retirement after 31 years of service to the citizens of Morrow County,” Matlack said. “The people have benefited from his dedication and service. The citizens will miss your compassion and dedication,” Matlack said. Matlack said he doesn’t think anyone knows Morrow County better than Lieutenant Harper. “Thanks, we are going to miss you,” he said. This position gave her ex- tensive experience in col- laboration and partnership development, as well as a thorough understanding of forest management. Born and raised on a farm in north central Idaho, McRoberts has personal connections to rural econ- omies and a desire to main- tain healthy, productive forests that support local communities.
