Homer joins Bank of Eastern Oregon board of directors BEO Bancorp (OTCB- B:BEOB) and its subsidi- ary, Bank of Eastern Ore- gon, recently added Gabri- elle Homer to the board of directors. Ms. Homer was raised in Dallas, OR and is a graduate of Oregon State University. Her career has spanned insurance and ad- vertising, along with about eight years in banking in Albany and Eugene. Gabri- elle relocated to the Fossil area where she has spent the past 19 years as financial controller and board sec- retary/treasurer for Painted Hills Natural Beef. In other business Cuts- forth gave an update on the street repair project which should start around the first of March. “People should see equipment start moving in around then some time,” he said. A major part of the project will see Gale Street completely torn up and redone. There will be new sewer pipe laid at that time. Several other streets in town are slated to be worked on also. In other business, the council heard from Pub- lic Works Director Chad Doherty who said his de- partment ordered a new cab to replace the old Ford F-350 snowplow pickup. The council also heard a report about a city plan- ning commission meeting held Jan 4. At the meeting Dave Fowler was elected chairman. In other business the commission approved a change of use and new tax lot so Pioneer Memorial Therapy Services can pur- chase the former Luther- an Church at 695 Alfalfa the building for physical therapy. The new tax lot was necessary to separate the church building from the adjacent Lutheran Par- sonage. The commission passed unanimously. In other action the com- mission approved a request from Sandra McDonald to replace a singlewide mobile home with a new single- wide manufactured home at 135 Cannon Street. Local man gets Navy promotion Gabrielle Homer ganizations and activities. “We are excited to have Gabrielle join our board of directors. DEADLINE: MONDAYS AT 5PM Joe Jones (right) receives his promotion to Petty Officer Third Class as a US Navy Aviation Machinist Mate. Local man Joe Jones has been promoted to Petty Officer Third Class in the United States Navy. He is an Aviation Machinist Mate with the Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 14 based out of San Diego CA. Jones is the son of Liz Jones Puckett of Heppner. He attended Heppner High School before joining the Navy. The Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 14 “Chargers” is an aviation unit based at Naval Air Station North Island, Cal- ifornia. The squadron is equipped with the Sikorsky MH-60S Seahawk heli- copters. According to its website, the mission is to “Provide all-weather. com- bat-ready aircraft and crew to conduct anti-surface war- fare, personnel recovery, special warfare support, search and rescue and logis- tics.” The Squadron’s motto is “Day and Night Lighting Strikes!” “My awesome son,” said Liz about the promo- tion. Senior golf to resume play The Columbia Blue Senior Golf Association (CBSGA) is planning to resume playing tourna- ments this year. There will be seven tournaments on the second Mondays of the months April through October. Eligibility for CBSGA includes being at least age 50 in 2021, membership in good standing at Wil- low Creek Country Club, an official Oregon Golf Association Ghin System handicap, and payment of CBSGA annual dues of $95.
