For Obituaries: Obituaries are published in the Heppner GT at no charge and are edited to meet news guidelines. Families wishing to include information not included in the guidelines or who wish to have the obituary written in a certain way must purchase advertising space for the obituary. For Letters to the Editor: Letters to the Editor MUST be signed by the author. The Heppner GT will not publish unsigned letters. All letters MUST include the author’s address and phone number for use by the GT office. The GT reserves the right to edit letters. The GT is not responsible for accuracy of statements made in letters. Any letters expressing thanks will be placed in the classifieds under “Card of Thanks” at a cost of $10. Fun Run to be held The Red Barn Fun Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the LDS church in Lexing- ton. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. Events include a one- mile, two-mile and 5K run/ walk. The entry fee is $10 and tee shirts are $5. All proceeds go to support the Heppner/Ione Cross Coun- try team. Prizes and refreshments will be available. Strollers, kids and bikes are welcome as the course is paved. Morrow SWCD schedules meeting Morrow SWCD will meet Tuesday, October 1 at the Ag Service Center, in Heppner beginning at 6 p.m. Agenda items include comments from the public, minutes of the June meet- ing, financial report, partner reports and staff reports. Mustangs slaughter Panthers 57-20 The Heppner Mustang football team ran their sea- son record to 3-0 with a 57- 20 win over the Gold Beach Panthers. The game was played in Bend at Summit High School on Saturday. The scoring started ear- ly for the Mustangs when Mason Lehman returned the first punt of the game 62 yards for a touchdown. Kannon Wilkins kicked the extra point to give the Mustangs the lead 7-0 with just over a minute gone in the game. Heppner forced another Panther punt and Mason returned that kick 52 yards for another score. Wilkins made the PAT kick and the score was 14-0 with eight minutes to go in the first quarter. Blake Wolters scored the next Mustang touch- down as he took a handoff and ran 28 yards for a score. The Wilkins kick was good and it was now 21-0. Gold Beach scored the next touchdown to make it 21-6 early in the sec- ond quarter. Heppner got the ball back and quickly scored again when Brock Hisler ran it in from one yard out. This time Wilkins scored a 2-pt. conversion to make the score 29-6. The next time the Mustangs got the ball they scored when Wilson took off and outran the defense for a 68-yard touchdown. Wolters score the 2-pt. con- version to now make it 37-6. Mason Lehman scored his third touchdown of the game as he returned another punt 55 yards for the score. The Wilkins PAT kick was good and the score was now 44-6. Wilson then hit Jackson Lehman with a 15- yard touchdown pass and Wilkins kicked the extra point to give the Mustangs a 51-6 lead at halftime. The rest of the game would be played with a run- ning clock as the Mustangs were ahead by 45 points at this point. The Heppner coaches started to play everyone who made the trip to Bend and give them valuable varsity experience. The last Mustang touchdown of the game came when quarterback Kason Cimmiyotti handed the ball off to Wilkins and he ran it in for a score from 20 yards out to make it 57- 6. Gold Beach then scored two late touchdowns to make the final score of the by Wolters with six tackles in the game. Roy Collins and Hisler were next with five tackles each. With four tackles were Jason Rea and Blane Mahoney. With three tackles each were Wilson, Matt Orem, Cody Fletcher and Ty Boor. Recording two tackles each were Gavin Hanna-Robinson, Hayden Hyatt, Jackson Lehman and Jace Coe. With one tackle each in the game were Kellen Grant, Mason Lehman, Nate Maret, Mikel Jaca, Conor Brosnan, Ke- gan Steagall and Tucker Ashbeck. The Mustangs have a home game this Friday as they welcome the team from Colfax, WA to town. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Les Payne Field. Chamber lunch meeting The next lunch meeting of the Heppner Chamber of Commerce will be held Thursday, October 3 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Hep- pner City Hall conference room. It will be all entities reports. Lunch will be provided Irrigon Medical Clinic Since 2013 game 57-20. Wilson was 2-3 passing the ball for 21 yards and a score. Cimmiyotti and Zander Fisher were each 1-2 for eight yards in the game. Jackson Lehman caught one pass for 15 yards and a touchdown and Evan Kollman had two pass re- ceptions for 14 yards. Blane Mahoney caught one pass for eight yards. Leading the way in rushing was Brock Hisler with 75 yards on five carries and a touchdown. Wilson ran for 68 yards and a score while Wolters had 44 yards and a touchdown. Mason Lehman had 22 yards rush- ing and Wilkins 20. Derrick Smith and Hunter Greenup each ran for four yards and Colby Keslar had two. The defense was led by Breaking Grounds for $10 per person and RSVPs are required no later than October 1. Lunch will con- sist of Zuppa Toscana soup, chicken Caesar salad and a cookie. The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities.
