Ventriloquist Vikki Gas- ko will be entertaining at this year’s Morrow County Fair. She will be strolling the grounds of the fair and also putting on shows. Check the schedule for times. Vikki is an entertainer based out of Washington and the Portland area. She has been entertaining live audiences with singing, dancing, and acting since the age of five. An award-winning Ventriloquist, Vikki delights audiences na- tionally as well as internation- ally with her unique blend of drama, magic, education and audience participation exciting young and old alike. Then come out the fairgrounds Friday and show everyone your master chili skills. Prizes will be money and a trophy. The chili cook off will be held Friday, August 16. Morrow County Chili Cook off rules -Chili is defined as any combination of ground, chopped or cubed meats to- gether with spices and sea- sonings along with tomatoes, onions, peppers, beans and liq- uids such as broth. Ingredients may not be pre-cooked in any way prior to the commence- ment of the cook-off. The only exceptions are canned or bottled tomatoes, sauces, pep- pers, broth, beans and grinding or mixing of spices. -Contestants should sign up at the Fair Office by 2 p.m. to register. Food prepara- tion and cooking begins at 3 p.m. Chili must be ready for judges by 5:30 p.m. This al- lows a preparation period of 2.5 hours. -One entry of chili per table. -Contestants must cook at least six quarts of chili; one pint will be submitted for judging. Keep in mind the more chili you make the more available to taste by the public for the People’s Choice Award. -Each contestant is respon- sible for supplying a 2.5 lb. fire extinguisher. -Each contestant is respon- sible for supplying cooking apparatus and cooking utensils along with food supplies. The Morrow County Fair will sup- ply judging cups and 2 oz cups and spoons for tasting samples by the public. -Chili will be judged based on flavor, color, aroma, use of spices and aftertaste. Each criterion can be awarded up to five points for a possible total of 25 points. In the event of a tie; the final chilis will be re- judged for the top three. -Morrow County Fair will provide two chairs, a table and electricity. -Contestants will be as- signed a number and given an official judging cup, which will be turned in to the judges table at the official time for judging. -Winners in the following categories will be announced at 5:30 p.m. 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place. -Judging will be blind as the judges will only know the numbers for the chilis. A blind sheet will be provided to the judges and competitors names will be applied after the judges select the chili that place first, second and third. -For people’s choice chili the public will be provided a ticket to place in a bucket at your table. The booth receiv- ing the most votes will be the people’s choice. -Ambiance is great; plan to decorate your table if you like. -Representatives of Mor- row County Fair will be avail- able to direct set-up. -Except for chili tasting; contestants will sell no food, drink or novelties to the public. -Plan on having a good time.
