Applications are due in December and more information can be found at https://cbec.cc This past Thursday, Larry Lutcher, agronomist with Oregon State University Extension Service, hosted a grower crop tour in co- operation with Proudfoot Ranches and Starvation Farms. Over 50 growers in the area attended the tour in an effort to learn more about currently available wheat varieties and production. Mustang basketball hosts two-day boys and girls instructional camp The Heppner Mus- tang basketball programs recently hosted a two-day instructional camp. The camp was open to boys and girls entering the third through 12th grades. Over the two-day camp, 60 cur- rent and future Mustang basketball players attended. Coach Jeff Lav- ender, the camp instructor, led the younger attendees through a lot of funda- mental and shooting work as well as letting them participate in many skill development games. The high school teams received more advanced instruction which included seeing new and different offenses and defenses. They also worked on lots of ball handling and shooting. The Mustang coaches met with coach Lavender several times to discuss the game of basket- ball and learn new things form him. “Overall it was a great camp and a tremen- dous value for the youth of Heppner to get some awesome instruction,” said a spokesperson. Plans are already being made to bring coach Lavender back next year. Funding for the camp was provided by the Heppner Booster Cl ub.
