December 23: Morrow County Sheriff ’s Office received a report at Irrigon Marina on NE Seventh St, Irrigon that there is a Chevy truck at the marina that has been parked there for three days. -MCSO received a re- port on California Ln, Irri- gon of 73 year old female having trouble breathing. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Utah Ave, Irri- gon of a 2014 Dodge pickup traveling at a high rate of speed pas RP’s residence. It was a P&P pickup, driver was going below the speed limit at 23 mph. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Utah Ave, Ir- rigon that a gray Honda car sped through towards Tenth. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Utah Ave, Irri- gon that five minutes ago tow side by sides were revving their motors up on Seventh and then raced down towards Division. -MCSO received a re- port on I 84 E, Boardman that a white pickup truck pulling a trailer has no lights. December 24: Morrow County Sheriff’s Office re- ceived a report for ATL re- garding subject involved in an assault that may be head- ed to Heppner area. He is now booked at NORCOR. -MCSO received a re- port on Hwy 74, Lexington of 60 year old male barely breathing. He was chok- ing, but isn’t now. Patient refusal. -MCSO received a re- port in Heppner of lost dog. Last seen at Heppner Mart. -MCSO received a re- port on NW Riverside Ave, Heppner of vandalism at the Fit Park. Advised that someone took the locks off the bathrooms. -MCSO received a re- port at SE Division St/E Hwy 730, Irrigon of a Jeep SUV possibly shopping at mail boxes early this morn- ing along Division. Wanted to advise in case anyone had anything come up missing. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Utah Ave, Irri- gon that older grey Lincoln was speeding down Utah to Tenth. -MCSO received a re- quest for a welfare check on N Main St, Heppner. Advises she is an elderly female who has a hard time walking and it appears her lights are off at her house. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Utah Ave, Irri- gon that a red Stratus just sped past his house. December 25: Morrow County Sheriff ’s Office received a report on SE Thomas Ave, Irrigon re- garding a subject that was knocking on their windows about an hour ago. RP is concerned about him wan- dering around due to the holiday. Unable to locate. -MCSO received a re- port on Faler Rd, Boardman that her boyfriend is intoxi- cated and won’t let go of her daughter. Civil issue over the child. RP and child left with RP’s parents. -MCSO received a re- port on NE Third St, Irrigon that his wife has oxygen problems and her nose is turning blue. Transported. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Utah Ave, Ir- rigon that a grey Nissan pickup flew by doing 40+. Unable to locate. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Division St, Ir- rigon that RP’s son is telling him he wants to die. The Heppner Jr. High in the top four. School wrestling team fin- ished out the season at the Eastern regionals wrestling tournament in Boardman on Saturday, March 2. Com- peting against wrestlers from all over the state, the four boys fought to earn a chance to compete at the Oregon Middle School State Wrestling Champi- onship (OMSSWC) to be held Saturday, March 9 in Woodburn, OR. Plagued by bad weather the team faced the cancella- tion of half their scheduled meets as well as multiple practices. The team made up of two sixth graders, one seventh grader and an eighth grader, worked hard to make up the missed time. Saturday’s tourna- ment found them making their way through brackets, some with as many as 32 competitors, trying to land that a maroon vehicle that was eastbound from Irrigon towards Umatilla was not maintaining lane or speed. OSP advised. -MCSO received a re- port on Linden Way, Hep- pner that RP would like a welfare check on 83 year old grandmother. She does not have anyone with her today and her phone is go- ing straight to voicemail. Deputy responded. Female is fine, having phone issues. -MCSO received a re- port at Wilson Ln/Downey Rd, Boardman of aerial fire- works in the area. Unable to locate. -MCSO received a report on Sky View Dr, Boardman that they keep smelling cigarette smoke in the residence but they do not smoke. Deputy re- sponded. Nothing located. -MCSO received a re- port at Trail Apartments on Boardman Ave NE, Board- man of a 40 year old female with rapid heartbeat and possibly vomited blood. Patient was transported to GSH. December 26: Morrow County Sheriff’s Office re- ceived a report on SE Utah Ave, Irrigon of loud music coming from a vehicle in the area. RP advised it is disturbing the peace and RP may find it and handle In the end the team came home with one mem- ber, Keegin Chitty, placing second in his weight class, allowing him to move on to the OMSSWC champi- onships. The team wishes Keegin good luck at state. Coach Ken Bailey, along with Miles Binger who helped throughout the season, are very proud of the accomplishments their team achieved this year. For many of the boys this was their first year competing in the sport and it is not an easy one to jump into. Despite missing a lot of mat time, as a team they showed huge growth and represent- ed Heppner well throughout the season. The whole team is looking forward to next year’s season and hopes to pick up a few more mem- bers. Members of St. Pat- rick’s Catholic Church Altar Society are again offering a nice bowl of homemade Irish Potato Soup Friday, March 15 during the Wee Bit O’ Ireland celebration. The soup will be served from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Parish Hall and will include rolls, a bever- age and choice of dessert which will include home- made pie and Guinness beer chocolate cake. The cost for adults is $8 and $4 for children 10 and under. Polar Plunge fund- raiser scheduled The first Heppner St. Patrick’s Polar Plunge will be held at Willow Creek Dam on Willow Creek Rd. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 16. Everyone is invited to come support the fundrais- er with a good “reezin for freezin.” All proceeds will be going to Fuzz Ball Pet Rescue, a non-profit organi- zation that rescues animals in Umatilla and Morrow counties. At the end of the term there is an option to be reappointed for an- other four-year term. This position is limited to Irrigon area residents. The planning com- mission meets once per month in either Boardman or Heppner and handles land use topics which in- clude approval of land use actions, maintaining the county’s subdivision and zoning ordinance, as well as working with the board of commissioners to manage the county’s land use plan. Family Hunt Club Looking for Big Game Land Wildlife Development Association (WDA), a hunting club which is over 40 years old, is seeking to expand its leased big game hunting areas by 10,000+/- acres. WDA is known for promoting the highest standard of hunting ethics, hunter safety and family hunting. Using club volunteers we hold annual work parties on leased proper- ties working on projects directed by the property owner (fence and gate repair, road improvement, vegetation removal, etc.). We do projects to improve hunting, such as “No Trespassing” signage, and Predator Con- trol program. References are available upon request.
