Morrow County Local Public Safety Coordinating Council created To the editor: The Morrow County Local Public Safety Coor- dinating Council (LPSCC) was created by Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 423.560. Designed to in- clude a large cross section of experienced public safe- ty officials, the group meets regularly to plan adult and juvenile criminal justice policies and make recom- mendations to the county board of commissioners. This collaboration results in coordinated responses to issues and improved out- comes in the public safety system. LPSCC members develop policies that are functional and practical, non-partisan and focused on advancing a healthier, safer quality of life in Mor- row County. Some items to be aware of: 1. The Morrow County Board of Commissioners is the executive branch of the county. The Democrat- ic process depends upon informed decision making by the commissioners. The LPSCC is comprised of Nordic club finds new snow Pictured (L-R): Luanne Brownfield, Kristy Crowell, Jacob and Tripp Finch, Dan VanLiew and Steve Brownfield. elected officials and agency directors who are experts in their fields. Through a collab- orative process, LPSCC determined the following were goals for 2019: Be- havioral health resources and statutory changes to increase community safety and activities and program- ming for juveniles outside of school hours. 3. As a resident of Mor- row County, your opinion matters. Public input is al- ways welcomed at board of commissioner’s meetings and at LPSCC meetings. The meeting information is public record and is on the county’s website. The next LPSCC meeting is on March 26 at noon at the Port of Morrow.
