Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, January 31, 2018 - SIX PUBLIC NOTICE Morrow County Public Works is seeking indi- viduals wanting to serve on the Road Committee. Open Positions at this time: Ione, North County, North County at Large and all (9) alternate positions. Committee members shall become familiar with the operations, standards and financing needs of the Mor- row County Road Depart- ment. Committee mem- bers shall provide advisory recommendations only to the Morrow County Board of Commissioners, Pub- lic Works Director, Road Master and Assistant Road Master. These recommen- dations shall follow all County policies and con- sider all budgetary needs. Requests for appointment shall be presented to Pub- lic Works in writing by the candidate. Public Works shall provide these to the Morrow County Board of Commissioners for ap- proval and appointment. The applications shall be in letter form contain- ing complete information regarding qualifications and reasons for interest in Committee membership. The letter shall be signed and dated by the applicant. Membership shall consist of: one member from each of the five incorporated communities in Morrow County; one representative of north Morrow County and one representative of south Morrow County; two members at-large (one being from north Morrow County and one being from south Morrow County); agricultural representation shall be given preference for one of the at-large po- sitions. This shall com- prise the Morrow County Road Committee Mem- bership. A second group of nine shall comprise the alternate voting members who may stand in as vot- ing members if their des- ignated voting member is absent. This group shall be selected in the same man- ner as the voting members using the same criteria for geographic location. Mem- bers shall reside or own property within Morrow County. Committee mem- bers shall provide to Mor- row County Public Works and the Morrow County Board of Commissioners ongoing assistance with re- view of the Transportation System Plan as related to the Morrow County Road System. Box 428, Lexington, OR 97839 or spointer@co.morrow.or.us Published: January 24 and 31, 2018 Mustangs take win in final minutes of game The Heppner Mustang boys’ basketball team won their only game of the week as they defeated the Stan- field Tigers by the score of 48-43. The Mustangs (9- 7,4-1) are currently sitting second in the Columbia Ba- sin Conference standings. A large and enthusiastic Heppner crowd, that looked as if it outnumbered the home team, were treated to a game that had an excit- ing finish and a victory for their team. The Mustangs struggled for most of the game and didn’t take the lead until there was just over two minutes left in the game. They then controlled the rest of the contest to secure the victory. A slow start by both teams saw the Tigers lead after the first quarter 10-6. The Heppner shooters still couldn’t get on track in the second quarter and the Mustangs trailed at halftime by the score of 23-15. Both teams scored 18 points in the third quarter and the Mustangs trailed 41-33 as the final quarter started. Trent Smith led the Mustangs with 17 points and three assists. Kevin Smith finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Wy- att Steagall, Alex Lind- say and Tyler Carter each scored five points in the game. Steagall also had eight rebounds, one assist and one block. Lindsay also recorded two rebounds and two steals and Carter chipped in three rebounds and a steal. Gibson Mc- Curry scored three points and had a block while Der- ek Howard had two points and three rebounds for the Mustangs. Hunter Nichols ripped down 11 rebounds for the team and also dished out six assists. Beau Wolt- ers and Coby Dougherty did not score in the game but they both recorded a rebound. This Friday, Feb. 2, the Mustangs travel to Athena to play the Weston-McE- wen Tigerscots. They then return home to play the Culver Bulldogs on Satur- day, Feb. 3. Leading scorers for the team were Sydney Wilson with 15 points followed by Jacee Currin with 14 points and Madison Combe with seven points. Madelyn Nichols once again provided a spark off the bench with some solid defense and chipped in five points. It was a total team effort with everyone on the team playing and contributing to the victory. The road win improved the Lady Mustangs CBC league record to 4-1 and they are now 12-4 overall. The Mustangs continue league action this weekend with games at Weston- McEwen on Friday, Feb. 2 and at home on Feb. 3, hosting Culver. RP advised he just got home and seems NOW HIRING DRIVERS like someone broke in. Can- celled, RP advised it was their kids. -MCSO received a report at Love’s Travel Stop and Country Store on Tower Rd, Boardman that someone hit his truck while he was sleeping. -MCSO received a re- port on SE Kristen Dr, Irrigon that a black car is picking up her brother with- out their consent and she would like her brother back. Her brother doesn’t want to come back home, he is 14. RP advises her brother was with her grandma. -MCSO received a report at Canal Ln/Toms Camp Rd, Boardman that his phone was stolen in Hermiston but pings in Boardman. Phone was col- lected and returned to its owner. -MCSO received a re- port pm Diamond Ring Ln, Irrigon that there is a dog that keeps coming back to her property and harasses the animals RP owns. -MCSO received a re- port on Bombing Range Rd, Boardman that a car hit an elk.
