These members meet four time a year. The duties of the Solid Waste Advisory Commit- tee shall be to: Provide a fo- rum for citizen comments, questions and concerns about solid waste topics as deemed appropriate and necessary by the County Court; Provide leadership for the development, fund- ing and implementation of the County’s solid waste programs, including meet- ing state mandated recy- cling goals; Create an An- nual Report for the County Court documenting imple- mentation of the Solid Waste Management Plan and any necessary regula- tions or amendments to the Solid Waste Ordinance. (The Annual Report shall also summarize local citi- zens’ concerns about solid waste); In consultation with responsible public officials and interested persons, pe- riodically review the Solid Waste Management Plan and provide recommenda- tions for modification to the County Court; Devel- op and recommend to the County Court standards for the location of recycling and/or collection sites in order to provide service to under served areas. There were 11 players in the women’s game and 23 men that played. A large crowd of friends, family and basketball fans showed up to cheer the teams on. In the women’s divi- sion, the “more experi- enced” team won the close and exciting game by the score of 38-34. Team mem- bers of the winning team were Taighler Dougherty, Lindsay Grogan, Petra Payne, Janelle Ellis and Taylor Kershner. Players on the other team were Emma Wright, Paige Grieb, Kelly Wilson, Jessica Kempken, Megan Hauner and Kaelyn Lindsay. The men’s game was a rough and physical game that saw several lead chang- es and an exciting and close finish. The “Young Guns” beat the “Oldies” by the score of 115-114. Logan Grieb and CJ Kindle led the winners with 21 points each. Pat- rick Collins finished with 16 and Weston Putman had 15 points. Jake Lindsay scored 10 and Quinn Gro- gan chipped in nine points. Ross Cutsforth scored seven points in the game and Brian Rill and Bailey Haguewood had five each. Tate Gentry had four points and Kevin Murray finished the game with two. David Norton poured in a game high 27 points to lead the “Oldies” team. Jeremy Rosenbalm was next with 25 points. With nine points each were Brian Smith and Aaron Griffith. Scoring eight points each in the game were Stephan Matheny, Chuy Elguezabal and Rocky Turner. Finish- ing with seven points each were Richard Devin and Joe Fischer. Lane Bailey scored six points in the game. It was reported that a fun time was had by all and everyone is looking for- ward to next year’s game. Mustangs lose tough game The Heppner Mustang boys’ basketball team lost a tough game to the Liberty Christian High School team from the Tri-Cities by the score of 63-56. A fast paced first quar- ter by both teams saw the Mustangs trail 22-18. Both teams played well in the second quarter and Liberty Christian led the game at halftime by the score of 40-34. Heppner struggled to score in the third quarter and trailed at the end of three 55-43. The Mustangs picked up the pace of play in the fourth quarter and outscored Liberty Christian 13-8. The late charge wasn’t enough and the Mustangs lost the game by the score of 63-56. Hunter Nichols led the Mustangs in scoring with 11. He also had five re- bounds, five steals and two assists. Justin McAninch had his best game of the sea- son as he scored 10 points, had nine rebounds, two blocks and an assist. Trent Smith had nine points, four rebounds and a steal. Tyler Carter racked up seven points to go along with six rebounds, three steals and an assist. With six points each were Wyatt Steagall and Gibson McCurry. Stea- gall also had three rebounds and a blocked shot while McCurry had one rebound. Beau Wolters had three points, three rebounds and a steal for the Mustangs. Alex Lindsay and Derek Howard each scored two points in the game. Lindsay also had three rebounds and Howard recorded an assist for the team. The Mustangs are off until Jan. 5, when they travel to Union to take on the Bobcats. On Saturday, Jan. 6 they will host the Elgin Huskies.
