EIGHT - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, December 20, 2017 Mustangs defeated in Heppner Junior High boys finish season weekend games The Heppner boys junior high Basketball team finished a successful season this past Saturday with games against Grant Union, Weston-McEwen and Irrigon. The Mustangs were beaten by the Irrigon Knights 67-32 and then lost to the Grant Union Prospectors by the score of 45-37. Heppner’s game that was scheduled at Im- bler was cancelled due to the bad weather over the mountains. Wyatt Steagall led the Mustangs in scoring at Irrigon with 7 points. Hunter Nichols and Justin McAninch were next with 6 points each. Trent Smith and Gibson McCurry fol- lowed with 4 points each and Beau Wolters scored 3. Logan Burright had 2 points for the Mustangs. It was a close game throughout with the Pros- pectors at home on Satur- day. The score was 11-9 in favor of Grant Union after the first quarter. The Mus- tangs fought back to take a 21-19 lead at halftime. The second half saw Heppner get outscored 26-16 which led to the Prospectors get- ting the win by the final score of 45-37. Tyler Carter led the team in scoring with 9 points. He also had 7 rebounds and an assist. Alex Lind- Carson Brosnan vs. Tristin Hancock (Kamiakin). at the say had a good game with Mac-Hi Christmas Tournament held Saturday, Dec. 16 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 at McLoughlin High School. Brosnan placed 1st in 160 steals. Trent Smith chipped weight class, Trevor Antonucci placed 3rd in 120 weight in 6 points and McAninch class and Leo Waite placed 3rd in 126 weight class.
