Pick up nomi- nation forms at the Bank of Eastern Oregon, Heppner Chamber, city hall, Com- munity Bank and the Post Office to submit nomina- tions for Man and Woman of the Year, Business of the Year, Youth Award, Citi- zen-Educator of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. The nomination forms can be dropped off at Kuhn Law Office or the Heppner Chamber of Com- merce or emailed to hep- pnerchamber@centurytel. net. Contact the Chamber office at 541-676-5536 for more information. Monday, Nov. 20 – Thursday, Dec. 14, the Re- wards Cards program starts for shopping local. Start collecting your rewards cards when you shop local at participating businesses. The denominations are $10, $20 and $50 and cannot be given on payments to ac- counts. Bring your family and come out to spend a great evening on Thursday, Dec. 14 and spend your rewards cards on prizes that have been donated by local and out of town merchants. There will be pictures with Santa, a dinner available for purchase and Scrooge will also be there. Contact the Chamber if you have any questions at 541-676-5536. Now through Wednes- day, Dec. 20, Community Bank Charity Drive Food Bank. Drop off any mon- etary donation to the Hep- pner Community Bank and they will match up to $500 at .50 cents on every dollar collected. The donations will support The Heppner Neighborhood Center. Thursday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m., free community Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner this year will be coordinated by Elohim Church and will be held at the All Saints Episcopal Church. Guests are asked to bring a salad or dessert to go with the meal. If you would like to help serve or cleanup, please contact Melba at 541-626-1732. Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Annual Artifactory Holi- day Bazaar at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall. This bazaar is sponsored by Heppner Day Care. Applications may also be completed online by visit- ing the Heppner Day Care Facebook page. Thursday, Dec. 7, Hep- pner Downtown Merchants Open House organized by the Heppner Chamber. Check out all that is going on during the day by our local merchants and plan on staying after the light parade until 7 p.m. to take in the activities and pick up a couple of Christmas presents while you are at it. Contact the Heppner Chamber for more info at 541-676-5536. Thursday, Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m., Parade of Lights organized by the City of Heppner. Pick up a parade entry form at city hall. The parade will be start at 5:30 p.m., with all participants at the city park by 5 p.m. to line up. Contact the Hep- pner City Hall at 541-676- 9618 for more information. Sunday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m., Free Community Concert with Christopher Duffley. This event is being sponsored by Community Counseling Solutions and will be held at Heppner High School. Concessions will be organized by the FBLA Club and will offer light dinner selections and will open at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., Heppner Christmas Event at Morrow County Fairgrounds. A spaghetti dinner prepared and served by the Track and Cross Country Team parents will be limited to the first 200 people (you will receive a $10 reward card for each meal purchased). There will be pictures taken with Santa and his elves from 6-7 p.m. for $5. Scrooge will be around to grump- ily hand over $10 rewards cards and drawing of the rewards cards, raffle and penny board winners will wrap up the evening. Thursday, Jan. 18 from 12 noon to1 p.m., Heppner Chamber of Commerce an- nual luncheon in the Senior Center dining room. The Chamber Board decided to move the annual luncheon to Jan. 18 instead of right after the holidays. Mark the date and time on your calendar and plan on join- ing us. There will be more information available closer to the event. Thursday, Jan. 25, Business Education and Training seminars co- ordinated by Boardman Chamber of Commerce. The Boardman Chamber is coordinating a seminar pre- sented by Paul Hutter. The seminar will include morn- ing and afternoon sessions with morning to be Health Care Update, marijuana in the workplace and Oregon overtime rules for manufac- turers. The afternoon ses- sion will include discussion on motivating and retaining your employee. Cost for a half day as a Chamber member is $200, $250 for a non- member. Heppner chamber members will re- ceive the member rate. Cost for a full day is $350 as a member, $400 for a non- member. Small businesses with 10 employees or less are offered a $50 discount. Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m., Heppner Chamber’s Annual Town and Coun- try Community Awards Event at Morrow County Fairgrounds. Nomination forms are available now and tickets will be available for purchase soon. Plan to come and spend a great community evening as we celebrate our recognition of the Man and Woman of the Year, Business of the Year, Youth Award, Citi- zen-Educator of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. - THREE Morrow County looking for volunteers Morrow County is looking for volunteers to represent Boardman and Ione on the Morrow Coun- ty Planning Commission. Planning Commissioners serve four-year terms, so the available appointments will fill terms ending Dec. 31, 2021. The Planning Commis- sion generally meets once a month, alternating meeting locations between Heppner and Boardman. Duties of the Planning Commission include approving land use actions, maintaining the county’s subdivision and zoning ordinances and working with the Morrow County Board of Com- missioners to manage the county’s land use compre- hensive plan. Parties residing in Mor- row County who are inter- ested in taking a more active part in land use planning in the county are encouraged to submit a letter of inter- est to the Morrow County Planning Department, P.O. Community lunch menu All Saints Episcopal and Hope and Valby volunteers will serve lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at St. Patrick’s Senior Center. Lunch will include fish and chips, jo-jo potatoes, coleslaw, spiced pears, bread sticks and choco- late mousse for dessert. Milk is served at each meal. Suggested donation is $3.50 per meal. Menu is subject to change. Marriage Licenses The Morrow County Clerk’s office has released the following report of marriage licenses: November 16, 2017: -Juan Antonio Lemus Garcia, 36, Hermiston and Mariana Calvillo Mendoza, 30, Hermiston. 4-H achievement night held The Morrow County 4-H Achievement Night was held on Sunday, Nov. 19 at the Morrow County Fairgrounds in Heppner. The program honored 4-H leaders and members for all of their accomplish- ments during the past 4-H year. Awards were be given out for achievements at the 2017 fair and other accomplishments made throughout the 2016-2017 4-H Year. The awards night was emceed by 4-H ambas- sadors: Keegan Gibbs and Cami VanArsdale, honorary ambassadors: Casey Fletch- er, Roy Collins and Grace Ogden and ambassador ad- visor: Jeannie Collins. This year Morrow County 4-H honored two businesses as recipients of the Friends of 4-H Award. These are busi- nesses that have worked closely with the OSU Ex- tension Service in support- ing the Morrow County 4-H Youth Program. This recognition is for those who provide sustained and significant contributions to the 4-H youth program in Morrow County. With great pleasure, this award was given to Three Mile Canyon Farms and Lamb Weston of Boardman. Every year the Mor- row County 4-H programs honors one leader who has stood out above the rest for service and commitment to the program. This year’s recipients was Pat Tolar of Columbia Junior Ranchers 4-H Club. Pat’s years of ser- vice and humble dedication to the 4-H members, clubs, fair, and the entire pro- gram have been significant and appreciated. The next award is one in particular that is given as special rec- ognition, the Becky Smith Memorial Award. This award is given to someone the 4-H Leader’s Council consider the most enthu- siastic, first year member in a large animal project area. Emphasis is given towards sheep members, but they must also exhibit a positive attitude, be some- one who doesn’t necessar- ily place high, takes good care of their animals and be willing to help others. Zaleta Masterson was this year’s 2017 recipient of the Becky Smith Memorial. Another special recognition award that was given is the All-Around Achievement Award. This award is de- signed to recognize the 4-H member who is involved in all aspects of 4-H. This award is a great accom- plishment in a 4-H’ers ca- reer and is one that should receive special recognition for the hard work that our members put forth not only in order to apply for, but also to receive. This year’s winners were: Madison Orem, Junior Award and Grace Ogden, Intermediate Award. Special awards were given for Outstanding 4-H Record Books, winners were: Kellen Joyce, Me- gan Joyce and Daemon Worden in the Junior Divi- sion; Cody Fletcher, Casey Fletcher, and Eva Martin in the Intermediate Division; and Joe O’Brien, Morgan Orem, and Ashley Price in the Senior Division. County medals are awarded to seventh through twelfth grade 4-H members in project or activity areas who have demonstrated advanced development of life skills, accomplish- ments in 4-H projects, as well as in leadership and citizenship activities. This year’s County Medal win- ners were: In the Intermediate Di- vision: Quinton Orr, Pho- tography; Emma Hermanns, Photography; Isabella Orr, Public Speaking; Kylie Boor, Clothing and Tex- tiles; Grace Ogden, Sheep; Harley Anderson, Horse; Lillian Richardson, Horse; Nathanial Wedam, Dairy Cattle; Casey Fletcher, Community Service; Cody Fletcher, Beef (Breeds) and Kael Osmin, Swine (Market). In the Senior Division: Dakota Durfey, Swine and Shayna Osmin, Swine (Breeds). Also awarded were Club Attendance Awards, recipients were: Sew Fan- tastic and Ukiah Commu- nity Club, both winning the Bronze Club Status.
