Bachelor’s degree in youth development, edu-
cation, family and consumer sciences, agricul-
ture, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated teaching, written and oral com-
munication skills including the effective use of

Demonstrated ability to engage successfully
with the target population in a culturally re-
sponsible manner.
Demonstrated ability to work as a team mem-
ber with other professionals and volunteers.
Demonstrated ability to interact successfully
with youth 5-19 years of age (Kindergarten
through 12th grade).
Demonstrated ability to lead groups and to
plan, organize, evaluate, manage, and delegate
details associated with program and office
management.
General ability to use common computer soft-
ware, including proficiency with information
technology, web sites and social media.
Demonstrated ability to work independently
with minimal supervision.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting

This position is designated as a critical or
security-sensitive position; therefore, the in-
cumbent must successfully complete a Crim-
inal History Check and be determined to be
position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-
055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to
self-report convictions and those in Youth Pro-
grams may have additional Criminal History
Checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a University
vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the

driver’s license in their state of residence, be

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Master’s degree in youth development, educa-
tion, family and consumer sciences, agricul-
ture, or a closely related field.
Minimum of two (2) years in teaching and
informal instructional delivery of youth 5-19
years of age.
Demonstrated knowledge of the 4-H program
and its goals.
Demonstrated ability to secure external fund-
ing support for educational programs.
Demonstrated experience in managing volun-
teer-led programs and an understanding of the
role of program advisory committees.
Demonstrated experience using content man-
agement systems with the ability to adapt to
the changing technological environment.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, manage
and empower volunteers.
Demonstrated prior customer service experi-
ence.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
The work schedule will have flexible hours in
order to meet the needs for evening and week-
end activities.
Travel is required. Access to wireless may be
necessary.
Ability to transport up to 30lbs of instruction-
al/computer equipment.
This position requires a clear and unambigu-
ous commitment to compliance of all National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regu-
