The plan does not pro- vide a timeframe for when an officer should return to work after a shooting, Matlack said, while most agencies specify a period of 48 or 72 hours. Matlack said the sheriff ’s office is looking to change the period to something like no sooner than 48 hours to create some certainty and line up with other agencies. Haak, of Heppner, was a parole and probation of- ficer in Morrow County until summer 2016, when he moved into a deputy va- cancy at the sheriff’s office. He graduated in January from the basic police course at the Oregon Public Safety Academy, Salem. Marriage Licenses The Morrow County Clerk’s office has released the following report of marriage licenses: September 28, 2017: -Cody Allen Childs, 28, Irrigon and Shalee Rae Kimball, 26, Union. Justice Court Report Morrow County Justice of the Peace Ann Spicer has released the following Justice Court report: -Joshua James Leon- ard, 38, Sandpoint, ID, was convicted of violation of basic rule, 75/55 mph, $160 fine. -Colton Lane Hollis, 18, Heppner, was convicted of violation of basic rule, 76/55 mph, $260 fine. Free vision exams October 23 The Morrow County Health Department, Mor- row County Health District and Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) Casey Eye Institute are offering free vision screenings to adults age 18 and older who do not have vision insur- ance. The outreach program helps decrease preventable blindness for at-risk com- munity members by screen- ing for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Through this partnership each participant will receive information on obtaining glasses and as- sistance from the Morrow County Health Department for coordination with fol- low up care as needed. The service will be pro- vided on Monday, Oct. 23 rd and is scheduled by ap- pointment only by calling the Morrow County Health Department at 541-676- 5421. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Parish Hall, 525 N. Gale Street, Heppner. Eyeglasses will be available for a nominal fee ($30 single vision and $40 lined bifocal). Based on income, participants may be eligible for financial assis- tance through the Heppner Lions Club. Thom Green becomes pastor at CLC Pastor Thom Green and his wife Kris are happy to be a part of the Heppner community. -Contributed photo Thom Green has settled in as the new pastor at the Christian Life Center. Thom met his wife Kris 38 years ago while he was attending Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. They have lived and raised their family in the Pacific Northwest. Green has served at a number of churches in various capaci- ties with the last 17 years as a senior/solo pastor. The Greens have two grown children who have gone on to serve the church- es they attend as part of the pastoral staff. Daughter Amy and her family live in Estacada, OR where Tony is serving as youth pastor while establishing a coun- seling service in the com- munity. Their son, Stephen, serves as the small group director in Battle Mountain, NV while he finishes his education. “We are excited to be a part of the Heppner com- munity and look forward to many years of serving the people of this great town,” stated Green.
