Out of the $242,395
received, $132,600 will
be available as technology
grants for which teachers
can apply.
“We also want to get
the teachers trained on us-
ing the technology and
when teachers put in for a
grant there is a professional
development requirement
that goes with it. It’s a win-
win situation,” he said.
In addition to the tech-
nology funds, the district
also received $50,000 for
Eastern Promise credits.
The funding would cover
1,613 credit hours accord-

Field trips for all grades are
also covered with $13,000
of the funding and the re-
maining $25,000 will be
used for wraparound ser-

“The district believes
that with the continued
support of the Morrow
Education Foundation, we
are able to continue to pro-
vide the students of Morrow
County School District the
best opportunities avail-
able,” Dirksen said.

Foundation has disbursed
over $620,000 to the Mor-

period.
Port of Morrow gen-

the Columbia Gorge
On Friday, April 15,
members of the Morrow
County Historical Society
participated in an all-day
trip to the Columbia Gorge
Discovery Center and Mu-
seum Center, located in The
Dalles, OR.
The group was able
to view displays of the
out-itting of the Lewis &
Clark expedition, Ice Age
floods of the Columbia
River Gorge, the work of
J.E. Freemont (topographic
mapmakers for the U.S.
Army) who mapped a large
part of the central western
portion of the U.S. from
1843-1884 (important in
the acquiring new territory)
and inally a “Birds of Prey”
display. The local Unit-
ed States Fish and Game
rangers have adopted four
permanently disabled rap-
tors—a rough-shouldered
hawk, a red-tailed hawk
and two bald eagles. These

Members say other his-

in “the works.” For more
