all started from seed in his
greenhouse. He enjoyed
sharing his produce with
family and friends. He was
recognized by the Lodi Gar-
den Club for the many years
he spent planting lowers on
Lower Sacramento Road. In
later years his friend Cor-
nello Garcia helped with his
project. When he was able,
Walt liked playing golf and
pheasant hunting.
Walt is survived by his
wife of 56 years, Maryanne;
their daughter, Marlys of
Marietta, GA; son, Kyle
(Sharon) and his sons, Mat-
thew and Blake, all of Lake
Barrington, IL; his sister,
Dorothy Stefani of Ione; a
sister-in-law, Donna Berg-
strom of Heppner; and sev-
eral nieces and nephews.
Robert Y. ‘Bob’ Perry
Robert Y. “Bob” Perry,
92, passed away on Satur-
day, January 30, 2016, at
his eldest son’s home in
Pendleton, OR. A grave-
side memorial service with
military honors will be held
Saturday, February 6, at 11
a.m. at High View Cem-
etery in Ione.
Bob was born August
23, 1923 on the “Old Bene-
dict Place” near Ione, the
son of Rosseter and Mi-
gnonette Young Perry. He
attended Ione and Mor-
gan grades schools and
high school at Arlington,
OR. He heeded the call to
defend his country after
Pearl Harbor and enlisted
in the United States Navy
in January of 1942. He was
allowed to earn his high
school diploma and then
started his military service
in June 1942. Bob served
in England and Scotland as
a Motor Machinist’s Mate,
First Call and participated
in the D-Day operation.
He received an honorable
discharge in July 1945.
Upon returning home,
Bob attended Oregon State
College for a year and then
went to work for Pacific
Northwest Bell in Port-
land, OR as a lineman and

in 1983 after 36 years.
After retirement, he came
back to the farm on Wil-
low Creek, where he had
many wonderful memories
growing up. He loved his
horses, raising livestock
and tending to his orchard.
He enjoyed hunting, ishing
and passing on wisdom to

his passing.
Kent lived his life on
his own terms. He enjoyed
his solitude and the nature
around him.
He is survived by his
wife, Shelly Wilson of To-
ledo, and their children, Je-
romey and Stephanie Bak-
er; his irst wife, Melissa,
and their children, Skyler
Wilson and Adria Riggle;
his grandson, Shaddix; his
parents, Pat Gee and hus-

Pancakes—all you can eat—will be on the supper
menu at All Saints Episcopal Parish Hall on Shrove
Tuesday, Feb. 9. Also available will be ham, fruit, coffee,
tea, juice or milk. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m.
Cost for the dinner is $5 for adults, $4 for students,
or $15 for the whole family. All proceeds will beneit
mission and outreach needs in our communities. The
dinner is sponsored by the shared ministry of All Saints
Episcopal and Hope Lutheran Churches.

Ferguson, who is battling cancer, says he is humbled
and grateful at the outpouring of support he has received
from the community so far.

MUSTANG DINER
The February session of First Friday Friends of Jesus
will be held this Friday, Feb. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at
the All Saints Parish Hall. Children who attend are re-
minded to bring canned or dried food for delivery to the
Neighborhood Center. Children ages four to 12 are invited
to a morning illed with Bible stories, crafts and games,
concluding with a free lunch. If necessary, children may
arrive as early as 8 a.m., but parents are asked to call the
church ofice at 541-676-9970 by noon on Thursday if
an early arrival is requested.
