Arbuckle Ski Club This week the Arbuckle Ski Club traveled south on Highway 207 to the Bull Prairie junction, where they parked. They then skied west on the Forest Service 25 road to the 400 road, then south of the 400 road to a good lunch spot and a great ire. Snow conditions were good and they reported only a few snow showers during the trip. The outlook is for snow conditions to remain good, so the group invites more participants to join in next Saturday. -Contributed photo Math students collecting donations for Doernbecher Heppner High School math students will be col- lecting donations for Doern- becher Children’s Hospital in Portland now through Feb. 12. Drop boxes will be available at Murray’s Drug and Heppner Family Foods. The students are encouraging donations of school supplies, books, toys and games. All donations must be new. Items on the Doern- becher wish list include: school supplies such as small dry erase boards, dry erase markers, plastic clip boards, reams of standard printer paper, lamination plastic sheets, #2 pencils, glue bottles and glue sticks, markers, crayons, sharpies, designer pocket folders and spiral notebooks, air drying clay, window art replace- ment paint, acrylic and watercolor paints (tubes or palettes), fabric paint, and paintables such as water color paper, canvas, masks, boxes and t-shirts. The hos- pital also asks for popular, award winning or clas- sic books for kindergarten through 12 th grade, and gift cards to popular stores. Cash and checks (made out to Heppner High School) will also be ac- cepted. Monies will go to purchase needed items. The students also will be sewing blankets in the HHS library on Feb. 3 and Feb. 9 from 4-8 p.m. for those who want to partici- pate. CONDON CELEBRATES BURNS -Continued from PAGE ONE of the event, with the top continued music from the centuries, in reciting Burns’ most recited works at the Burns Supper—“To a Hag- gis,” and one of his most animated poems, “Tam O’Shanter.” Others are welcomed to perform readings, recita- tions and musical renditions of Burns’ works. A shortbread contest has become a popular part three winners singled out, but with unique prizes made available to all who enter. The afternoon event, which begins at 2 p.m. with the program ending about 5 p.m., generally continues on into the evening with pipers. Admission is $17 per person, $30 per couple. Tickets are available at the Times-Journal on Condon’s historic Main Street and at the door. Sheriff's Report November 29 (cont.): -MCSO was notiied that Hermiston PD arrested Kelly Lee Ramberg, 45, on a Morrow County Circuit Court warrant for Failure to Appear on a charge of Harassment. Suspect was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with no bail. -MCSO was advised that a vehicle was bro- ken down about two miles above the OHV park. The caller advised it was a male driver by the name of Ter- rance and that the vehicle was broken down in the middle of the road. The caller was not familiar with who the subject was. -A woman in Heppner advised there was a deer stuck in the fence between her residence and the neigh- bor’s. -MCSO was advised of a male suffering from Alzheimer’s who had been missing for the last four to ive hours. The caller stated the subject was homeless and the subject’s girlfriend was also out looking for him. Caller requested dep- uty contact. -A woman in Irrigon advised that her 11-year- old grandson was visiting and one of her 14-year-old grandson’s friends took his cell phone and had been using it. November 30: -Mor- row County Sheriff’s Of- fice received a report of suspicious activity at Ione school. -Morrow County Sher- iff reported being out with a possible disable vehicle on Hwy. 730, Irrigon. Vehicle was a broken-down service truck but another truck ar- rived to repair it while the sheriff was on the scene. -A person in Irrigon reported a welder mounted on a trailer was taken over the weekend. The caller provided serial numbers for both the welder and the trailer. -A person in Irrigon reported a dog with its head stuck between two cinder blocks and unable to get loose. The caller requested a deputy go and check it out. -A female in Ione re- ported that her son was at the residence breaking belongings in the garage. MCSO responded and de- termined that no crime had been committed, the subject took something from the garage that belonged to him and nothing was damaged. However, the subject and a female subject were tres- passed from the residence. -MCSO received re- port of suspicious activity in a Heppner business; a situation with a little girl, ripped her shirt and broke her glasses, and was trying to get her to go with “him.” The 13-year-old female was refusing to leave. They were in the ofice currently and refusing to leave. -A female in Heppner reported that her father-in- law just left her residence intoxicated, driving a lat- bed pickup. -MCSO received a re- port of telephone harass- ment; a male out of Echo reported a female kept call- ing and texting from her cell phone harassing him. The male provided the fe- male’s phone number and advised no threats, but she was trying to break up the male and his wife. The male requested telephone contact for options. MCSO made contact with Pendleton PD for assistance. Both sub- jects were advised not to contact each other. -Community Counsel- ing Solutions in Heppner reported that “the juvenile from earlier” was causing problems. -A male in Irrigon re- ported that his ex-wife was at a location trying to see the kids and he did not want her there. MCSO responded and determined that the male had full custody of the children. The female will make the agreed-upon arrangements next time she wants to see the children. -Hermiston PD re- quested assistance to see if two juveniles were at an Irrigon location. They were allowed to be there but Hermiston PD needed to make sure they were okay before removing them from Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS) as run- aways. MCSO responded and both juveniles were at the residence.
