For Public/Legal Notices: public/legal notices deadline is Monday at 5 p.m. Dates for pub-
lication must be speciied. Afidavits must be required at the time of submission. Afidavits
require three weeks to process after last date of publication (a sooner return date must be
speciied if required).
For Obituaries: Obituaries are published in the Heppner GT at no charge and are edited to
meet news guidelines. Families wishing to include information not included in the guidelines
or who wish to have the obituary written in a certain way must purchase advertising space
for the obituary.
For Letters to the Editor: Letters to the Editor MUST be signed by the author. The Heppner
GT will not publish unsigned letters. All letters MUST include the author’s address and phone
number for use by the GT ofice. The GT reserves the right to edit letters. The GT is not
responsible for accuracy of statements made in letters. Any letters expressing thanks will
be placed in the classiieds under “Card of Thanks” at a cost of $10.

First Friday Friends
of Jesus this week
The January session of First Friday Friends of Jesus
will be held this Friday, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at
the All Saints Parish Hall. Children ages four through 12
are invited for a morning illed with Bible stories, crafts,
games and a free lunch. Newcomers are always welcome.

The next lunch meeting of the Heppner Chamber
of Commerce will be the chamber’s annual luncheon
on Thursday, Jan. 7, at noon in the St. Patrick’s Senior
Center dining room. Also at the meeting, the Heppner
High School choir, directed by Rick Drake, will provide
special musical entertainment.
Cost of lunch is $10; Alvin Liu with Gateway Café
will cater. Chamber lunch attendees are asked to RSVP
at 541-676-5536 no later than the Wednesday before to
accommodate enough food and seating.

sources Conservation Ser-
vice (NRCS) offers techni-
cal and inancial assistance
to private landowners and
producers interested in pre-
serving natural resources on
the land.
NRCS has established
priority working area in
the Lower Little Butter
Creek and Sandhollow wa-
tersheds.
Assistance may be
available to help landown-
ers implement conservation
activities such as fence in-
stallation, prescribed graz-
ing, spring development
and more on rangeland.
Applications for fund-
ing must be completed and
received by Jan. 16. Contact

Shared Ministry celebrates another
new well
This Sunday, Jan. 10,
the Shared Ministry of Hope
Lutheran Church and All
Saints Episcopal Church
will celebrate completion
of their ifth well through
Living Water International
at All Saints Parish Hall be-
ginning at 4 p.m. Everyone
is welcome. The celebra-
tion will include a potluck
featuring Haitian foods,
photos and stories from
Haiti, and a small bazaar
with Haitian crafts for sale,
with proceeds being applied
to the churches’ ongoing
well-drilling ministry.

Math students to collect donations for
Doernbecher
Heppner High School
math students will be col-
lecting donations for Doern-
becher Children’s Hospital
in Portland Jan. 12 through
Feb. 12. Drop boxes will be
available at Murray’s Drug
and Heppner Family Foods.
The students are encourag-
ing donations of school
supplies, books, toys and
games. All donations must
be new.

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ELL/read-
ing night!” is the theme next Tuesday evening, Jan. 12,
at Heppner Elementary School. The evening’s events will
begin at 6 p.m. in the HES library.
Parents, students and friends of the Morrow County
School District are invited to attend a night illed with ice
cream, entertainment and chance to learn more about the
English Language Learners (ELL) and Heroes programs.
Community lunch

Willow Creek Baptist Church members will serve
lunch on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at St. Patrick’s Senior
Center. Lunch will include parmesan crusted ish, rice
pilaf, sunshine carrots, green salad, garlic bread sticks
and cinnamon pudding.
Milk is served at each meal. Suggested donation is
$3.50 per meal. Menu is subject to change.
