Second annual pumpkin picking
party this weekend
The Lexington Grange
will host its second annual
pumpkin picking party and
carnival this Sunday, Oct.
25, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Grange has added
some new events this year;
the activity lineup includes
pony rides, carnival games,
photos by Julie Baker, a
costume contest, pump-
kins and pumpkin painting,
fresh-squeezed apple cider,
candy and prizes.
This year, the Grange
is also raffling an adult fall-
themed basket.
A $5 entry fee covers
a pumpkin, photo in cos-
tume and a costume contest.

Ione to host choir festival,
concert tonight
On Wednesday, Oct.
21, Ione will again host the
Tri-County Choir Festival.
Choral students from six
schools will join together
to make one large group,
rehearse several songs, and
will put on a concert for the
public in the evening. The
concert will take place at 6
p.m. in the Ione elementary
gym. Admission is $1 per

Ione Community School to
host Scholastic Book Fair
Ione Community
School will host a Scholas-
tic Book Fair on Wednesday
and Thursday, Nov. 4-5,
from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. in
the Ione elementary gym.
Funds raised will help pur-
chase books for the school
library, classroom libraries,
children, etc. Families, fac-
ulty and the community are
invited to attend this read-
ing event that helps inspire
children to become lifelong
readers.
The book fair offers
specially-priced books
and educational products,
including popular series,
award-winning titles, new
releases, adult bestsellers
and other great reads from
dozens of publishers. Book
fair customers may help the
school build classroom li-
braries by purchasing books
through the Classroom
Wish List program. The
book fair also will feature a
special drawing for a basket Ione honored its volleyball seniors at their last home game Saturday night. Pictured standing are
