Births Emma Jo Mul- lins—Shaun and Ja- mie Mullins of Hep- pner are pleased to announce the birth of a daughter, Emma Jo Mullins. Emma was born December 18, 2014; she weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches long. Emma joins older siblings Charlie, 3, Emma Jo Mullins and Ella, 1. Grandparents are Joan and Rick Risch and Michael Mullins of Manitowoc, WI. Marriage Licenses The Morrow County Clerk’s office has released the following report of marriage licenses: March 24, 2015: -Travis Paul Bellamy, 31, of Heppner and Hannah Rae Lankford, 26, of Heppner. Chamber lunch meeting to start early The next lunch meeting of the Heppner Chamber of Commerce will offer a full slate of information on Thursday, April 2, at 11:45 a.m. in Heppner City Hall conference room. The chamber will hear a brief introduction of Healthy Families by Nikki Clark, a presentation by Heppner FFA students on the pheasant brooding house, and will wrap up with the normal all entities reports. Attendees are asked to note that lunch time has been moved up to accommodate the full schedule and still finish by 1 p.m. Presentations will begin at 12:05 p.m. Cost of lunch is $10; Bucknum’s will cater. Chamber lunch attendees are asked to RSVP at 541-676-5536 no later than the Wednesday before to guarantee a lunch. AARP safe driving course offered Joan Doherty, 73, of Mortuary in Pendleton. A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery. A potluck recep- tion will follow at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church parish hall in Heppner. Vernon was born in Kahler Basin, outside of Spray, OR. He was the first of five children born to Ralph and Ruby Den- nison Cecil. He spent his childhood living in the Spray area and loved the community and the people there. Vernon was in the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre in 1944 and 1945 with most of his time being spent on the island of Okinawa. On January 9, 1948 he married LaVelle Jones at Boise, ID. The couple was married for 63 years and raised four children. They lived in Heppner and later moved to Kinzua, OR. He worked most of his life in the timber industry, spending many years as a diesel mechanic work- ing on logging equipment in the woods. He was an extremely hard worker and was never late a day in his life. The club would also like to remind members to sign up at club house for Wednesday night team play. It starts on April 15 and is $40 per team. Community lunch menu United Methodist Church members will serve lunch on Wednesday, April 8, at St. Patrick’s Senior Center. The meal will include spaghetti with meat sauce; seven-layer salad with kale, lettuce, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes and radishes; garlic bread; and tira- misu. Morrow SWCD to meet The Morrow SWCD will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the Ag Service Center conference room. Agenda items include review and approval of the February meeting minutes, treasurer’s report, insurance coverage, review draft weed policy and job description, staff and partner reports, and long-range plan discussion. Meetings of the Morrow SWCD are open to the public. Funds available for youth group willing to clean watershed The Heppner Water Control District annually provides funds to a Hep- pner-area youth organiza- tion to complete a creek- cleaning project to remove garbage and debris from the creek channels in the Hep- pner watershed. This annual project helps keep the creek channels clear of debris for the safety and enjoyment of the citizens and visitors of Heppner. Citizens are reminded it is against state law to throw debris or refuse, such as grass clippings, gar- bage, appliances, etc., in the creek.
