Jessica Hughes, BMCC Class of 2014
Heppner
Heppner High School graduate Jessica Hughes says
attending BMCC to start her four-year degree in education
was “a logical decision. It was cost-effective, close to home,
and I was able to take the same core classes that I would
have taken in my first two years at a university for a fraction
of the cost.” Thanks to BMCC’s affordable education, Jessica
completed her undergraduate degree debt-free. She took
advantage of high school and community scholarships, worked in
the BMCC Foundation office and for BMCC’s maintenance department in
work study positions, and utilized FAFSA and worked part-time jobs. Jessica
is currently attending Colorado State University to complete her master’s degree, and
plans to return to Heppner to raise cattle on her family’s ranch.
Have you heard about the BMCC bond?
BMCC wants to continue to provide a high-quality education for students so they can
succeed like our many distinguished alumni! Check out the bond page on our website to
learn more about how BMCC could continue to provide an affordable education for family-
wage jobs, a safe and secure learning environment and protect the community’s
investment. Look for the bond on the May 19, 2015, ballot!
