Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, December 17,2014 - FIVE Chamber Chatter Now through Decem ber 19 - Heppner FFA stu dents are sponsoring a coat drive: Collection tubs will be located at Les Schwab, H eppner Fam ily Foods, M u rra y ’s, T he Bank o f Eastern Oregon, Heppner Elementary and Heppner High Schools. Coats will be donated to the Neighbor hood Center. Now through Decem ber 19 - Wheatland Insur ance is sponsoring a food drive: Help out our com munity by donating canned foods and non-perishable items to Wheatland Insur ance. The items collected will be given to the Neigh borhood Center to help with families in need this holiday season. Stop by with your donations and support a worthy cause. Thursday, D ecem ber 18 - R e tire m e n t O pen House for Steve Rhea - 2-5:30 p.m.: A retirement open house will be held at W heatland Insurance from 2-5:30 p.m. Stop in and wish Steve well on his retirement. T hursday, D ecem ber 18 - Heppner “Celebrate Christmas Event” - 6 p.m. at the Morrow County Fair grounds: Start collecting your rewards cards from lo cal participating merchants through December 18 and bring them with you for an opportunity to win some great prizes. T here will be a dinner available for purchase at 6 p.m., a penny board and raffle items will be set up, along with a visit from Santa (pictures from 6-7 p.m ., $5 per picture) and Scrooge. The prizes will be set up in the annex again this year so bring your rewards cards and plan on coming out and participat ing. T hursday, January 8 - Heppner Cham ber’s An nual Luncheon - 12-1 p.m.: This year’s annual luncheon will be held at the senior center dining room. Lunch expense is $10. Thursday, January 1 5 - 1 leppner Chamber’s Annual Town and Country Com munity Awards - Morrow County Fairgrounds. This g rea t co m m u n ity event will start at 6 p.m. with a dinner and the program to follow, so plan on coming out and celebrating with the w inners o f the community awards. It is guaranteed to be a great evening. reported that four people kept running up and down Main Street and into traffic, two males and two females, all around the age o f 18 or 20. She was not sure if they were in some type o f distur bance or what was going on. MCSO responded. -An MCSO deputy re ported being out and mov ing some fencing pieces oft' Highway 207. -MCSO received report o f a domestic disturbance in Heppner; a woman was try ing to remove the daughter from the car and there is a lot o f yelling. -A woman in Heppner called 911 and advised that someone broke in through the bathroom window and kicked in the bedroom door. -MCSO received a 911 call from lone; caller stated that a dog was chasing kids around in the area and al most bit one. -MCSO received report o f a sex crime. J u n e 28: -H e p p n e r A m bulance received re quest for transport o f an 87-year-old male with trou ble breathing; subject was alert. Subject was trans ported. -A woman in the Hep pner area reported hearing a loud noise at the resi dence across the road. The horses at the residence are now very stirred up. Caller would like the area checked and then would like contact. A deputy responded and checked the area but was unable to locate anything. Caller said she would call back if she heard anything else. -B ucknum ’s in H ep p n er c a lle d M CSO and requested to have a female trespassed for threatening to slash everyone’s tires. MCSO responded and the female was trespassed. -A m an in H ep p n er advised M CSO that his girlfriend stole his grand p arents’ vehicle. The fe male called and advised she wanted to drop the vehicle o ff but wanted an escort because her boyfriend was abusive. -A caller in Irrigon re ported a tan cow out. Caller advised it turned left on Thirteenth. -MCSO received a re port o f a stalled minivan on an interstate off ramp that had its flashers on. MCSO responded and advised that they were taking care of a baby. J u n e 29: -M o rro w County S h e riff’s deputy m ade contact with a ve hicle parked by the base ball fields at the marina in Irrigon; male and female subjects were star gazing. -M CSO was advised o f an intoxicated male yell ing near the grade school in Heppner. Male walked behind the gym toward the tennis courts and was with another male and a female. A deputy responded. -M CSO was advised by a wom an in Heppner that her 16-year-old daugh ter was being combative; the c a ller had scratches on her but did not need an ambulance. MCSO re sponded and requested an ambulance for a 16-year- old female with cuts to the w rist and head. Heppner Ambulance responded and transported to Pioneer Me morial Hospital. -A man in Irrigon re ported multiple items stolen from around his residence. MCSO responded and took a report. -MCSO received report o f a red Dodge pickup trav elling at a high rate o f speed that almost ran another ve hicle off the road near the Heppner golf course. -A MCSO deputy ad vised that they were behind a possible drunk driver on Hwy. 207. -a wom an in Irrigon contacted MCSO and ad vised that a male left around 10 a.m. and was supposed to be back at 2 a.m.; time was 6 p.m. and he was not back yet. MCSO responded and the male was located in Newburg. Sheriff's Report J u n e 19 ( c u n t . ) : -MCSO received report o f a flare up o f the earlier fire on Canyon Drive in Heppner. Heppner Fire and MCSO responded. -B o a rd m a n A m b u lance received two m edi cal alarms from a pendant, but no contact from the patient. The patient refused transport. -Boardman Ambulance received request for an am bulance for a 75-year-old m ale who was not feel ing w ell and m ay have been having diabetic issues. Boardman Ambulance re sponded and transported the patient to Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston. -B oardm an Fire D e partment received report o f a commercial fire alarm at Pacific Ethanol. The alarm was false. -B oardm an Fire D e partment received report o f a brush fire on Canal Dr./ Hwy. 730. -Irrigon Ambulance re ceived report o f a 50-year- old male with a possible broken leg. June 23: -A caller at Irrigon L earning C enter advised M orrow County Sheriff's Office o f an emu running around across from the location. -MCSO was advised of peddlers, two young men, who parked in the middle o f the street in Heppner and went door to door. They were polite and left when they were told to leave. -A caller in H eppner advised M CSO that her family had been to court with her brother that day regarding custody o f his child and that custody visi tation was set but there was a subject there now with the child’s mother who was threatening to come over and beat them up. J une 24: -U m atilla C ounty S h e riff’s O ffice advised M orrow County Sheriff’s Office that they arrested Wendy Lynn Long, 44, on an Irrigon Justice Court Warrant for Failure to Appear on Theft III. Sub ject was lodged at Umatilla County Jail. -A c a l l e r a d v is e d MCSO that someone was trying to contact a couple in Lexington and they were concerned because they did not want him contacting them. -MCSO received a 911 call from Irrigon in which a m ale advised his w ife pushed him out the door and he needed help. He wanted his w ife to leave but she was refusing. A deputy made contact and forwarded the situation to the DA. -A woman in the Lex ington area reported that inappropriate things were said while her daughter was visiting her father over the weekend and she wanted to make a report. A deputy made contact and advised her o f her options. -H eppner Am bulance received a call regarding a male at a corral in the Hep pner area who was hurt and bleeding from the mouth; subject was conscious and b re a th in g . S u b je ct w as transported. -MCSO and Boardman Police Dept, responded to a report o f a disturbance in Irrigon. A man was going after his stepson in the street and a female subject was trying to get between them. -A caller in Irrigon re ported a theft. The female then left in a blue flatbed Ford pickup with a male subject. MCSO and BPD responded; no injuries were noted and the female was not located. J u n e 26: -M o rro w C ounty S h e riff’s O ffice received report that a drunk individual w earing blue jeans and a plaid shirt had just walked into the call e r’s apartment in Heppner looking for a woman. The subject was no longer in the apartment but was still wandering around the area yelling for the female. -MCSO received report o f two young boys playing under the stairs and throw ing rocks on Water Street in Heppner; caller advised drivers could not see the boys when driving down Water Street. - H e r m is to n P o lic e Dept, advised MCSO o f a possible suicidal su b ject heading into Heppner. MCSO was unable to lo cate. -A caller in Heppner advised o f two small tan dogs that kept getting out; attempted to speak to the owner, who was uncoop erative. M CSO issued a citation. -M C S O re c e iv e d a driving complaint about an individual who was seen on Hwy. 207 in Lexington; he did not have an Oregon driver’s license and his li cense was suspended out of Washington. The caller ad vised the subject had been given several citations and warnings about this. -M C SO was advised that Juan Antonio C alde ron, 22, had been lodged at Umatilla County Jail on a warrant for Failure to Ap pear on Theft III. -A wom an in Irrigon advised that a male came to her house today and yester day; there was a restraining order but he broke into her house and kicked in the door and vandalized her vehicle. -A caller at Columbia River Ranch in Boardman ad v ised that one o f the residents was threatening the other residents and staff members. -A person from C o lumbia River Ranch called M CSO and advised that they have a staff members between two subjects that law enforcement just dealt with and neither subject would back down. MCSO responded and assisted. -A w o m an d r iv in g near L exington advised that she swerved to hit a deer and was stuck in the ditch. There w ould be a tow truck out to tow the car tomorrow but they wanted to advise MCSO in case anyone called it in. -Columbia River Ranch advised MCSO that a male resident had gone missing. He was wearing red work out pants and a ball cap and had long gray hair and a beard and was very thin. They last had a visual on him at 10 p.m. and looked in on him at 11:15 and he was gone. One staff mem ber was driving around to the bars and rest stops in an attempt to locate him. June 27: -Boardm an ambulance received a call from a m ale having bad stomach issues and stating he was “deathly sick.” Sub ject was transported. -Irrigon ambulance re ceived report o f a tenant at a location in Irrigon lying in the yard. It was unknown what was wrong with him and he was naked. Caller advised that he did not know if the subject was breathing. Irrigon A m bu lance responded and trans ported. -MCSO deputy checked on a green pick up parked at a location in B oardm an. S ubject was sleep in g in his cam per. Subject advised that he did not see the no trespassing sign he was parked in front o f and would be on his way. -A woman in lone ad vised that she was watching a friend's house while they were out o f town and two male subjects were standing outside the gate and trying to look into the house and garage. She had last seen the su b jects 15 m inutes before. -A woman in Heppner B2H D Z . M Transmission Line Project B oardm an to H em ingw ay The Bureau of Land Management, in coordination with other federal, state, and local agencies, has released the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Boardman to Hemingway Transmission Line Project (B2H).The DEIS is publicly available for a formal 90-day comment period through March 19, 2015. Seven open houses are scheduled in communities throughout the project area. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact individually with project staff, learn more about the DEIS, ask questions about the National Environmental Policy Act analysis and decision process, discuss concerns, and submit written comments. General information about the project, agency roles, schedule, and concurrent permitting processes will be available. This information will also be made available via an online open house at boardmantohemingway.com.
