Funeral Notice
John Shepherd— A Celebration of Life is planned
for former Heppner resident John Shepherd this Sunday,
Sept. 28, at 12:30 p.m. at Mallory Seed Orchard, past
Ditch Creek, Heppner.
John passed away July 16, 2013. Heppner Ranger
District Forest Service employees will be presenting a
plaque in his memory.
To reach Mallory Seed Orchard, follow Forest Ser­
vice Road 21 and then turn off at the Thompson corral to
FS Road 2104. Call Joyce Shepherd, 253-970-8557. for

Death Notice
Marlene C. Peterson— Marlene C. Peterson, 82, of
Heppner died Monday, September 22, 2014 in Portland.
She was bom April 22, 1932 in Fairfield, CA. A complete
obituary will appear in next week’s Gazette-Times. Swee­
ney Mortuary of Heppner is in charge of arrangements.

Historical society
plans annual meeting
To its annual meeting
in October, the Morrow
County Historical Society
extends an invitation to
individuals who appreciate
the importance and influ­
ence of history.
Two topics at the Oct.
26 meeting at the SAGE
Center in Boardman will
be possible tours to sponsor
and subjects to research for
the 2015 Chronicles publi­
cation. Among its projects,
the Morrow County His­
torical Society periodi­
cally offers history-related
tours to the general public,
as well as publishing the
Chronicles collection of
articles yearly.
Entrance for the meet­
ing at the SAGE Center on

The meeting will begin at 2
p.m. The Center will open
at 1 p.m., and attendees will
be welcome to arrive early
and tour the facility.
Two guest speakers

St. Patrick’s Senior Center. The meal will include Swed­
