Following is a message from Father Kumar: Dear Friends “A priest is one who makes Christ visible. Without the priest, the passion and death of our Lord would be of no avail. It is the priest who continues the work of redemption here on earth...What use would be a house filled with gold, were there no one to open its door? The priest holds the key to the treasures of heaven: it is he who opens the door: he is the steward of the good Lord; the priest is not a priest for himself, he is a priest for you.” Today, 1 am here to tell you that Bishop Liam Carry has transferred me from Heppner and lone to Pendleton as the pastor for St. Mary’s Catholic Church. I will be taking charge of my new Parish on July 17,2014. For 18 months, as your Catholic priest, I have really enjoyed my life, my work and playing golf. You are so good and loving people to me. Though 1 am far away from my mother and my other friends, I have never felt lonely or by myself. Whenever and wherever I asked for your help, you were there for me. In this short time of my stay here, I have tried to do a few spiritual faith-oriented activities. I hope whenever you sing Anima Christi, you will remember me. It is my favorite song. I will not be far from you, just 70 miles to Pendleton. You are always welcome at St. Mary’s Church. Please come and say hi to me when you are in Pendleton. I request your continued prayers for me so that I can do the Lord’s work according to His plans, guided by the Holy Spirit. Your new priest is coming from India. I know that you will welcome him as you did me. His name is Fr. Papa Rao. Please pray for his safe travel to the USA. He is of my age and from same diocese. Though my stay here has been a short, I enjoyed each day. At this time, 1 sincerely thank each and every one of the lone and Heppner Catholic community. You will continue to be in my prayers. God Bless. Fr. Kumar Udagandla.
