Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, May 21,2014 Sheriffs Report January 29 (cont.): -MCSO arrested Irma Irene Garza on a Morrow County Circuit Court warrant for Parole Violation/Burglary I. The same subject was also arrested on a separate MCCC warrant. Subject was lodged at Umatilla County Jail on other charges with holds placed. -A man in H eppner advised MCSO that he caught another kitten and needs it transported. January 30: -MCSO was advised that Jefferson C o u n ty Ja il serv ed a Morrow County Circuit Court warrant on Brandon Lee Cleem, 30. Subject was lodged at Jefferson County on local charges. -MCSO was advised that Frank Andrew Mackey was indicted on the charge o f T a m p erin g w ith a Witness. -An MCSO checked on an animal that was struck by a vehicle near the Kinzua mill site in Heppner. The animal was deceased. -A man in H eppner reported to MCSO that a three-year-old was outside a neighboring residence saying “No key. No key.” The lights were on in the house and he heard the kids outside. Deputy made contact and advised that the child was at the wrong door but the child was inside now. -MCSO cited Adasael Contreras Garcia, 21, For Violating the Speed Limit 99/65. February 1: Morrow County S heriff's Office received report from a subject that they believe they lost a credit card at the Boardman rest area. -MCSO received report from a Heppner man that they had a cat in a trap and wanted it taken away and a new trap brought in. MCSO responded and a new trap was brought in. -MCSO received report from Gilliam County that showed a subject on 1-84 Boardman had a restricted warrant out of Hermiston Municipal Court and they believed he was traveling to Hermiston. -MCSO cited Jeanette Nall, 43, for Violation of the Speed Limit, 103 mph in a 65 mph zone on 1-84 Boardman. -MCSO received report of landlord needing a water meter unlocked in Heppner. -MCSO received report o f a subject in a Dodge pickup traveling at a high rate of speed on Columbia Lane in Irrigon. The caller said the driver lost control of the vehicle and it was now on its top with the driver out of the vehicle, but the passenger trapped under the vehicle. M CSO arrested a 2 3 -y ear-o ld male for DU11, Recklessly Endangering Another and Assault IV. He was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with $18,000 bail. He was also cited for Driving While Suspended and Driving Uninsured. -MCSO received report of long pieces of metal in the road near Lexington on Hwy. 207-Echo. -M C S O r e c e iv e d r e p o r t th a t U m a tilla County S h e riffs Office arrested Levi J. Fleming on an Irrig o n J u stic e Court warrant for Failure to A ppear on C rim inal Trespass II. He was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with $340.30 bail in full. -MCSO received report of a semi-truck and flatbed trailer swerving all over the roadway on 1-84 Boardman. The caller said the truck ran him off the road. -MCSO received report of someone traveling behind the high school in Irrigon. -MCSO received report from a MCSO Deputy that he was flagged down by a motorist asking about how to get to California. -MCSO received report of someone driving around in a loud black Chevy pickup w ith a ro ll-b ar behind his house on Utah in Irrigon. February 3: Morrow County S heriff’s Office received report from an Irrig o n w om an th at a purple ten-speed bike had been parked in front of her residence for the past two days. MCSO responded and picked up the bike. -M C S O r e c e iv e d report of mail stolen from an Irrigon residence. The caller said that at least four or five things had been taken out o f the mailbox since Christmas. MCSO responded and took a report. -MCSO received report o f a p o ssib le runaw ay in Irrigon with a female marked absent all morning from school. -MCSO received report o f a pit bull in Irrigon. MCSO cited B enjam in Coria Bustos, 39, Irrigon, for Maintaining a Dog as a Public Nuisance. -MCSO received report from a Heppner man that someone had tried to break into his residence. On call back, the caller said he had straightened it out and advised to disregard the issue. -MCSO received report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in Irrigon with three individuals inside. A deputy contacted the individuals who said they were waiting for someone to meet them to cash a check. -M C S O r e c e iv e d report of several automated 911 calls coming from a Heppner location. MCSO responded and determined that som eone had been stuck in an elevator, but was able to get out. Heppner Am bulance stood down before going en route. -MCSO received report from a woman traveling on Highway 206 Heppner that someone in a white Ford four-wheel drive pickup with the words “F -off’ in the back window tailgated her and then passed her g o in g ab o u t 70 m ph. throwing rocks up causing her windshield to crack. The caller wanted a call back from a deputy. -MCSO received report from a Heppner man of a red Holland truck with a white trailer swerving all over the road on 1-84 Arlington. -M C S O r e c e iv e d a hang-up 911 call. The subject called back and it was determ ined he was calling about a medical issue at Hwy. 730/Paterson Ferry Rd. -M C S O r e c e iv e d request for an ambulance for a 58-year-old male who had possibly had a stroke. The caller said the man had also tried to assault him. -M C S O r e c e iv e d report o f a derailment of two wheels on a train on Colum bia Lane and the railroad tracks in Boardman. The train was not blocking and would be removed the next day. February 5: Morrow County S heriff’s Office received report from an Irrigon woman that a male subject kept calling and texting her, saying he was going to go to her house. A deputy made contact, trespassed a male subject from the lo catio n and told him about telephonic harassment if he continued to contact the female caller. -MCSO received report of driving complaints in the area ofUtahAve. in Irrigon. -M C S O r e c e iv e d request from a woman around 1:30 a.m. on West Eight Rd. and Gravel Pit Lane in Irrigon for deputy contact. She said she had been walking and had very cold feet, but did not want an am b u lan ce. M CSO responded and gave her a courtesy ride to Hermiston. -MCSO received report of a mail truck with a trailer that had a flat tire. The caller said that the driver of the truck was talking on his cell phone and unaware of the flat. Deputies were out of position and the caller was transferred to Oregon State Police. -M C S O r e c e iv e d request for an agency assist. The information was “blued out”. -MCSO received report o f a pit bull at large in Irrigon. The cat was transported. February 7: Boardman Police Department Officer reported following foot prints. -B o a rd m a n P o lic e D e p a rtm e n t re c e iv e d report o f a female who was 20 weeks pregnant having several abdominal pain, but no bleeding. She was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in 1 lermiston. -BPD received report of two Chihuahuas at large on Columbia in Boardman. -BPD received report o f a vehicle located in a field on Kinkade Rd. -BPD reported bad, icy conditions along Columbia and Main streets. -BPD received request for a welfare check on an infant. -BPD received report o f a 36-year-old female having difficulty breathing. -BPD received report o f an accident with two pickups olT the road with no injuries, no EMS, fire or tow requested. The drivers just wanted to file a police report. BPD responded and took the report. - BP D ci t ed J a me s David Mitchell, 21, for No Operator's License. -Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received report from an Irrigon man who found a small dog outside his house. He requested that MCSO pick the dog up. MCSO transported the dog to Pet Rescue. -MCSO received report of two rifles found in a field offKunze Rd. in Boardman. -MCSO received report o f kids on a sled being pulled by a car going down California Avenue in Irrigon. MCSO was unable to locate the vehicle. Boardman approves supplemental budget and other resolutions D uring their May 6 council meeting, Boardman City Councilors approved four r e s o lu tio n s — tw o o f w hich w ere budget resolutions to move money from fund to fund for year- end housekeeping— for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. Another was a resolution to accept grant money from C o lu m b ia R iver Enterprise Zone II for the police departm ent’s new Computer Aided Dispatch program. Finally, there was a resolution declaring the city’s 2001 Ford Taurus as surplus property. In other city business, the council gave approval for a beer garden at the M arina Park during the Fourth of July celebration from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Councilors also accepted a rig h t-o f-w ay from a property owner for access for a new subdivision on South Main Street. The next meeting of the Boardman City Council will be Tuesday, May 20, at 7 p.m. at Boardman City Hall. Irrigon student named Gates Millennium Scholar for 2014 IR R IG O N — Jo rd an C onnell is one o f only 1.000 students from across the country to be named a Gates Millennium Scholar for 2014, which earns her a good-through-graduation scholarship to any college or university of her choice. Connell was selected from 52,000 applicants from around the U.S. for her stro n g lead ersh ip , com m unity service and academic achievements. C o n n e ll, who w ill graduate as co-valedictorian from Irrigon Jr-Sr High School on May 30 with a 4.0 cumulative GPA, is the fourth student from her school in the last five years to be named a Gates Millennium Scholar. She will graduate with 38 college credits, and will leave behind a thriving peer tutoring program she took the incentive to begin during her freshman year. Besides her rigorous academic schedule, Connell also has found time to participate in other school activities, including basketball, volleyball, pep b and,jazz band, the National Honors Society and Key Club, where she has served as both secretary and vice president. Connell also served as the student r e p r e s e n t a t i v e on the M orrow County School D istrict's Student Health Advisory Council, and was one of the top counselors at Irrigon’s Outdoor School program last spring.
