333-tower, 845-megawatt
w ind farm lo c a te d in
both Morrow and Gilliam
counties, near Arlington.
One hundred percent of
its power output goes to
Southern California Edison,
and mainly the city of Long
B each. The ren ew ab le
energy satisfies a California
law that around 20 percent
o f pow er consum ed in
the state be produced by
renewable sources. A new
law requires the percentage
will increase to 33 percent by
2020; however, California
has also tightened up a
requirement that a larger
share o f the pow er be
produced inside the state,
w hich would rem ove a
large potential customer for
the power produced by the
Heppner project.
According to Oliver,
lnvenergy also said that “it
remains confident in the
project and continues to
actively seek PPA (purchase
power agreem ent)
oppprtunities in order to
move the project forward.”
According to lnvenergy
the Heppner Wind farms
would “provide substantial,

including an expected 200

up to 20 to 25 full time

jobs.
“ In a d d i t i o n , the
fully developed project is
expected to generate several
million dollars annually for
the local economy in the
