The Mustangs swept their last three games of the year by beating the Arlington Honkers 39-31, the C ondon/ W heeler K nights 36-24 and the Weston-McEwen TigerScots by a score o f 45-29. Against the Honkers a balanced scoring attack was led by Caden Hedman with 10. Kolby Currin had nine points and Jake Lindsay e ig h t. K e v in M u rra y followed with five, Ryan C ecil scored three, and Kaden Corbin and Cade A rb o g ast each had tw o points in the game. In th e g a m e w ith Condon/Wheeler the team outscored the Knights in each quarter. They were led in scoring by Murray and Corbin, who each had eight points for the game. H edm an tallie d six and Lindsay had five. Jeremiah Petzoldt had four points, Arbogast three and Currin two. Every team m em ber scored in the final game o f th e s e a s o n a g a in s t the T ig e rS c o ts. C u rrin , Hedman and Murry each scored eight points. Scoring five points in the game and p u llin g dow n m any big rebounds was Jeff Dowdy. Scoring four points each were Lindsay, Cecil, Corbin and Petzoldt. L eading the team in scoring for the season were L in d s a y a n d H e d m a n , who averaged nine points per gam e each. M urray averaged eight and Currin se v e n . A v e ra g in g fo u r points a game were Corbin an d P e tz o ld t. S c o rin g three points a game was Arbogast, and at two points per c o n te st w ere C ecil and Dowdy. M urray led the team in rebounds and Hedman in assists. It was a great season for this team as they all got to play a lot o f minutes and they improved as a team each week. The weather interrupted last w eekend’s plans for lone’s basketball teams, but that doesn’t keep them from riding high on sweeping victories against Helix at home last Tuesday, Feb. 4. The C a rd in a l b o y ’s varsity team defeated the Grizzlies 92-58, while the varsity girls secured a 52- 39 victory and the boys’ JV team b ro u g h t dow n Griswold 37-25. Total fines, fees and assessments were $500. -In a separate case, Jose Antonio Pena Jr., 23, was convicted o f Harassment — C onstituting Dom estic V io le n c e , A C la s s B misdemeanor, and sentenced to 90 days jail time. However, execution of90 days jail time was suspended and Pena sentenced to 24 months bench probation, to include 30 hours of community service, no offensive contact with the victim and successful c o m p le tio n o f a n g e r m anagem ent. A dditional counts were disposed without conviction. Total fines, fees and assessments were $793. -Tyler James Sanders, 21, was convicted of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a Class A misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 30 days jail time. Total fines, fees and assessments were $ 100. -Daniel Hernandez, 49, was convicted of harassment, a Class B m isdem eanor; sentence o f 90 days ja il tim e was suspended and the defendant sentenced to 24 months bench probation. Fines, fees and assessments totaled $100. -Frank Andrew Mackey, 28, was convicted of one count of Burglary I, a Class A felony. The defendant was sentenced to 29 months prison tim e w ith c re d it for tim e served, as well as three years post-prison su p e rv isio n . A dditional counts were disposed w ithout conviction. There were seven m em bers p resent with leaders Heidi Nelson and Nancy Jepsen. R ebecca Jepsen was home on break and was th ere a lso as a leader. Morgan Orem was present as a junior leader. The meeting began by reciting the 4-H pledge. T hen N ancy Jep sen had a short quiz, asking everyone questions about hamburger. The group then had a d isc u ssio n about ham burger. They played “Hamburger Battle.” There were four kinds o f burger, that the group com pared the meat by weighing and tasting them. Next, the group broke into three groups to make sloppy Joes. The groups used the burger that they had c o m p a re d e a rlie r. There was discussion about adding things to a recipe. After the sloppy Joes were made, then everyone enjoyed some for lunch. The next meeting will be Friday, Feb. 14, in lone. lone city council meeting rescheduled The City o f lone City Council meeting has been rescheduled due to a change in the basketball schedule. The meeting time has been changed from Tuesday, Feb. 11, to Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. at lone City Hall. The public is asked to attend, as public input is needed for the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan. The wastewater study is not yet complete and will be presented at the March 11 council meeting. Justice Court Report Morrow County Justice o f the Peace Ann Spicer has released the following Justice Court report: -Brent Irwin, 46, o f Sunriver, OR, pled guilty to Attempted Waste of Wildlife. He received a $1,000 fine, was sentenced to 90 days in jail and two years bench probation, and was banned from hunting the Heppner Unit for the duration o f his probation (two years). Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson has released the following report: -D a k o ta D uane K a n e a s t e r , 19, w a s convicted o f one count o f Harassment - Constituting Domestic Violence, A Class B m isdem eanor reduced to a Class A violation. An additional count of the same charge was disposed without conviction. Fines, fees and assessments totaled $793. -Alejandro Cisneros, 25, was convicted of two counts of Harassment - Constituting Domestic Violence, A Class B misdemeanor, and sentenced to 90 days jail time on each count. However, for each count, execution of 75 days jail time was suspended and the defendant sentenced to 24 months bench probation, to include no contact with the victim, completion of anger management and drug and alcohol treatment, 15 days o f jail time, and 30 hours of community service if not deported or upon return to the U.S. Total fines, fees and assessments were $593. -Victor Flores Martinez, 3 5 , w as c o n v ic te d o f one count o f fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, a Class C felony. The defendant’s d riv e r’s license was suspended for 90 days and the defendant sentenced to six m onths prison tim e, w ith credit for time served and to run concurrent with additional sentences. M artinez was also sentenced to one year post-prison supervision. Additionally, Martinez was convicted of one count of Reckless Driving, a Class A m is d e m e a n o r . T h e defendant’s driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the defendant sentenced to six months prison time, with credit for time served and to run c o n c u rre n t with additional sentences. Additionally, Martinez was convicted o f one count o f Criminal Trespass II, a Class C misdemeanor, and sentenced to six m onths prison tim e, w ith credit for time served and to run concurrent with additional Sheriff's Report November 22: Morrow County S h e riff’s O ffice served a warrant to Irma Irene Garza. 40. She was lodged at Umatilla County Jail with $200,000 bail. -MCSO received report o f a driver who had run out o f gas on I-84/Three M ile Canyon. A deputy and B o a rd m a n P o lic e Department assisted. -MCSO responded to a report o f found property in Heppner. The finder said he wanted a finder’s fee for recovering the property. -M C S O , B o a rd m a n A m b u la n c e r e c e i v e d report of a motor vehicle accident on 1-84 Boardman. The a c c id e n t was non- blocking. but an ambulance was needed. MCSO cited Heriberto Rodriguez Garcia, 41, for Careless Driving-with a motor vehicle accident. -MCSO received report of a pocket watch taken from a house in Irrigon. -MCSO received report from M o rro w C o u n ty maintenance that someone lost a bale of hay on Hwy. 74, Lexington and it was all over the north-bound lane. -MCSO received request for a welfare check on a dog in Lexington because it was cold and the owners would be gone all day. MCSO responded and contacted the owners. They would give the dog another blanket and check on her. -MCSO received request for a welfare check from Adult Protective Services for a client who was talking about “just ending it.” MCSO responded and determined that the subject was talking about ending services with them and not his life. -M CSO cited Daniel Christopher Pryor, 44, for Violation of the Basic Rule, 80 mph in a 55 mph zone. -MCSO received report of a mid 90s model Dodge pickup that almost rammed som eone on the freeway and ran off at the 171 exit. Information was relayed to Oregon State Police. -M C S O r e c e i v e d report that Stanfield Police Department arrested David Own Wiggins. 52, in Morrow County for DUII. He was lodged at Umatilla County Jail. i -M C S O re c e iv e d a relayed report from OSP about a possibly intoxicated driver in a w hite Dodge Journey with Washington p la te . The s u b je c t had dropped o ff a fem ale in Arlington around 30 minutes earlier and when the subject got out of the car, multiple beer cans fell out o f the vehicle and the subject appeared intoxicated. MCSO responded and checked the area, but was unable to locate anything. -MCSO received report of theft of prescription drugs on Chase Street in Heppner. -MCSO received notice of a commitment order with mental health adjudication and firearms prohibition. -MCSO received report from an Irrigon woman of someone doing “burnouts” in front o f her house, involving a blue Dodge and a white Dodge. MCSO responded and lo cated one o f the vehicles that was parked.
