Wheat Foundation scholarship offered Pendleton, O R — The Oregon Wheat Foundation w ill p ro v id e up to 12 scholarships for high school seniors whose families are m em bers o f the O regon Wheat Growers League. T he s c h o la rs h ip is also open to students who w ork part-tim e for grower members, as well as students whose family members are employed by OWGL members. T he s c h o la rs h ip requirem ents include an essay on any topic related to the wheat industry and a summary o f the student’s sc h o o l and co m m u n ity involvement. One $1,000 award will be m ade to a qualifying s tu d e n t fro m M o rro w C ounty, as w ell as one from each o f the o th e r p a rtic ip a tin g c o u n tie s , w h ic h in c lu d e B a k e r, Gilliam, Klamath, Malheur. Sherman, Umatilla, Union, W allowa and W asco. In addition, up to two awards w ill be m a d e in th e Willamette Valley counties and one in the C e n tra l Oregon counties. A pplications are due Monday, Feb. 3. Mustang grapplers take second in Riverside Rumble The Heppner Mustang wrestling team com peted S a tu rd a y at the se v en - team Riverside Rumble in Boardman. The Mustang grapplers took the full lineup for the first time this year and brought hom e a second- place trophy. Final team scores were Riverside 111, Heppner 83, Hermiston JV 73, Mac Hi 68, Union 53, Irrigon 32 and Riverview 24. John Propheter made the most o f his wrestling debut for the season coming back from football injuries. He w on all fo u r o f his matches against Boardman, Union and two Hermiston o p p o n e n ts to sta n d on top of the podium for the 220-pound weight class.
