Nelson, a mechanic for MCGG, was diagnosed with a life- threatening illness several months ago. Applicator CORF training will be held on Wednesday, December 18, at the Morrow County Extension office from 9:45 am to 3 p.m. The morning session, which equals two Oregon CORE/general applicator re-certification credits, will include: “On-Farm Pesticide Storage & Ag Pesticide Disposal” and “Spray Drift Management: Drift Reduction Technology and Spray Nozzle Selection.” the afternoon session, which also equals two Oregon CORE/general applicator re-certification credits, includes sessions on the following topics, “Pesticide Storage Assessment Exercise and Discussion” and the “ODA Pesticide Division Update.” Those planning to attend may attend either or both of the sessions and are asked to RSVP to the Extension office at 541-676-9642. City of Boardman joins water association The B o ard m an City Council unanimously approved m em bership in the N ortheast Water A s s o c ia tio n , d u r in g their D ecem ber 3 city council meeting. Annual m embership dues for a m u n ic ip a lity in th e association are $ 1000. The city also voted to donate another $24,000 for a one- year contribution, and will be considering additional support on an annual basis. J.R. Cook of the Northeast Water Association gave a presentation about the organization and their functions. He said the association is a business league made up of public and p riv ate reso u rces having common interest in the developm ent o f C olum bia R iver w ater resources. MCSO arrested Mary Lee Bowles, 57, for Theft II. -MCSO received report of a yellow lab with a collar and tag with the name “Danny” on it at the boat docks on Willow Creek Rd. in Heppner. -MCSO received report from a Heppner man that his cabin was broken into and beer taken from under the sink. He said it looked like the subject used a pry bar to get in and the beer was a 16 oz. Hamm’s. -MCSO received report from a woman in Lexington that she found a bag with about eight bird carcasses in it with the breast removed that were dumped near her home. On call back, he said that while there was no emergency at the time, he did have a threat and wanted his phone ready in the event of a problem. -M CSO cited Jesse B urke-A llm on, 33, for Violation o f the Speed Limit, 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. -MCSO received report of big dogs out o f their fenced area antagonizing other dogs in Irrig o n . MCSO responded. -Heppner Ambulance received report from a Heppner woman that her 84-year-old husband had fallen and was disoriented, but b reath in g . He was transported. “Angels, shepherds and their sheep” gather around Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus during a Nativity program held during the First Friday Friends of Jesus held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Heppner on Friday, Dec. 6. The First Friday program, which is a free bible school for children held on the first Friday of the month, is put on by the combined Hope Lutheran and All Saints Episcopal Churches.
