I I SIX - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, December 4,2013 Books worm their way into kids’ hearts thanks to local club lone Booster Club to hold Basketball Bonanza The Cardinal Booster Club’s annual Basketball Bonanza Tournament will be held this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6-7. The g i r l s ’ v a rs ity tournament will begin with Amity versus Enterprise at 3 p.m. on Friday, lone will play Riverside at 6 p.m. on Friday; the losers will play in the consolation round Saturday at 1 p.m., while the winners will continue to the championship game at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Girls’ JV play begins with Riverside versus lone at 1 p.m. Friday and Amity versus Enterprise at 4 p.m. The consolation match will be Saturday at 10 a.m. with the championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday. For the boys, varsity action starts Friday at 4:30 p.m. with Riverside versus Enterprise, followed by lone D efinition of T ruth : Words o f truth heard from the heart light the way on the only path to the author of reality and that is God. Ticket sales will begin at the tournament and continue until a date yet to be announced. The booster club is still seeking volunteers for concessions, as well as food donations toward the concessions. To volunteer or donate, contact Arlynda Gates at gatesarlynda@ hotmail.com. lone Basketball Bonanza Full Schedule The Heppner Preschool four-year-old class is enjoying a bountiful gift of books from “The Bookworm” club in Heppner. With the arrival of books brought by Pat Edmundson, the children were able to sit down before departure of preschool and enjoy many stories. A variety of books was given, with different age ranges of books, as well. The Bookworm club has been giving books to the Heppner Day Care, Inc. for many years. “To think of us each holiday season is a gift in itself,” says Heppner Day Care Director Merry Chandler.
