The National Mini Rex Club is celebrating its 25th anniversary o f being a recognized breed. This is the first time in the history of the breed that the prize winning owners are from Oregon. Tellechea took only eight rabbits, but it was the elite eight. “Placing in the top 10 is always what you are at least hoping for when many o f the classes have 100 or more entries,” said Tellechea. As it turns out, only one out of their eight entries didn’t place in the top 10. They also had the Best o f Variety Blue and first place Otter senior doe in the show. More than 1,800 Mini Rex entered the show. Tellechea and Renfro are going into their 12th year of raising and showing Mini Rex. A r o u n d 6: 45 a. m. on Oct. 27, the Morrow County S heriff's Office Comm unications Center received a report of a car accident involving multiple horses on Kunze Lane near Toms Camp Road in Boardman. According to MCSO, a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Alfredo Cobarruvias- Rami rez o f Boar dman struck three horses that had gotten out of their pasture and wandered onto Kunze Lane. The person who found the horse put it on their property and advised that if anyone calls that’s where the horse is. -MCSO received report of a black and white Palouse horse on the golf course in Heppner. A deputy responded, found the owner and determined the horse was not on the course. -MCSO received report from an Irrigon woman that a male subject texted her boyfriend’s phone looking for her. She said she ignored him, but then he showed up at the game and there was a harassment issue in the past. A deputy told them to leave each other alone and not to contact each other on the phone. -MCSO received report from a Boardman woman that there were two cows in her pasture that had broken down her fence and she doesn’t know who they belong to. MCSO made contact and the cows were put back in their pasture. -MCSO received report from a woman on Gun Club Lane that someone had been on her property, leaving footprints in the drive and disconnecting the sprinkler, leaving standing water in the yard. MCSO made phone contact and took the report. -MCSO received report o f a suspicious dark red SUV with Washington plates that drove by a man’s residence in Boardman, pointed a high-powered rifle with a scope out the window toward the field and then drove back by, pulling over quickly when the deputy passed them and then continued on. A deputy and officer were unable to locate the vehicle. -MCSO received report o f a 71-year-old male in respi rat ory distress in Irrigon. The caller reported that the door was unlocked and a dog was inside, however it wouldn’t bite. The subject was transported. -MCSO received report o f a suspicious vehicle parked on Riverview Lane in Irrigon. A deputy made contact and the subject was walking with a friend near the hatchery. -MCSO received report from a subject driving on Hwy. 730/Paterson Ferry Road in Irrigon that he hit and killed a deer in the middle o f the road. He advised he would move the deer out of the roadway. -MCSO received report o f nine-10-year-old kids playing on the railing at a church on Gale St. The caller was concerned that they would fall off and hurt themselves as they were unattended. A deputy made contact and released the juveniles to the parent. -MCSO received report of a vehicle that a horse trailer that came unhitched and was in the ditch on Kunze Lane/Peters Rd. in Boardman. S e p t e m b e r 16: Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Angelique Kettlewell, 20, on an Irrigon Justice Court warrant for Failure to Appear/Criminal Trespass I. One animal died from injuries sustained during the impact, while the other two had to be put down at the scene due to injuries they received during the crash. The owner was found and the calf was put back in. -MCSO received report of a big dog that ripped the caller’s screen and tore the drapes out of his window in Irrigon. -MCSO received report of a white, chubby, balding man in his mid-40s in the middle of the road in Boardman. The caller advised that the subject was possibly someone from Columbia River Ranch. The caller did not know if there were any injuries. -B o ard m a n Fire Department received report of a truck and trailer going over the railroad tracks on the north side of the bridge going east on Marine Drive. The truck ran through the guard rail and was off the road on the embankment. Last week’s ad regarding the football playoffs incorrectly stated the Mustang game time versus Weston-McEwen as 3 p.m. Friday.
